| 2 | waking too soon, unable to sleep | Sinequan made me so sleepy I was useless for anything the next day. I got up to 75 mg one day and slept almost the whole next day. had been falling asleep with xanax but also waking after a few hours needing more xanax to get back to sleep. Wanted to cut down on xanax, reserve it for daytime anxiety. Tried over the counter sleep meds which worked but made me feel like I was someone else the next day. Trazodone was less zombifying on low doses but it or something else made me start to lose my eyebrows. I was already on a tricyclic (clomipramine) so figured sinequan would be a good companion drug. I am still on it as 25 mg and very groggy but since I was recently on a higher dose I will hang in there for a bit because the half life of this drug is so long 25 mg may affect me less as time passes from the higher dose. | This drug is so sedating it's actually depressing me even though it's an antidepressant. I'm told the excessive sedation will pass but that will take weeks rather than days. I can't accept that and will try to take half a capsule. If that doesn't work I'll quit it, but damnit I want to stop using xanax at night. I'm worried about excessive habituation leading to addiction. | M | 63 | 6 days 25 mg 1X D | 7/5/2010 | |
| 3 | waking too soon, unable to sleep | I sleep a really long time, so I have to use an alarm to get me up after 9-10 hrs. Otherwise I can be out for 12 or more. However, once I am up it takes me much less time to become functional than it used to. | Since I am already on another tricyclic antidepressant (altho. there are significant differences between the various tricyclics), i.e., clomipramine, I'm in no hurry to up the dosage. The reason I take sinequan is to help me sleep, which it does. I was off it for several weeks and when I started up again I expected to be more zonked the next day than I was, but it was as if my body remembered and continued where I left off, i.e., not so much a zombie the next day./Really, just getting out of bed is the hardest part. Once my feet are on the floor I feel perfectly ready to make coffee, etc. | M | 63 | 7 days 50-75mg 1X D | 8/28/2010 | |
