| Rating | Reason | Side Effects | Comments | Sex | Age | Time Taken and Dosage | Date Added | |
| 4 | Bipolar 2 | NEUTRAL: -STRONG feeling of wanting to sleep within 30 mins to 1 hr of taking it -Hard to wake up before it wears off. When starting it, sleepiness wore off 12 hrs after. (E.g. taking it 8PM = waking up at 8AM at the earliest). 6-12 months in, I could wake up 6 hours after taking it NEGATIVE (only in the night after taking it): -Slurred speech as if trying to talk whilst very sleepy -Slower thinking and reflexes -Wanting to eat a lot after taking it (higher appetite but not hunger. Keep snacks away or just go to sleep right after taking it. Sometimes have a week where appetite is very strong and I snack at night, but other weeks I just sleep early and have no issues with it. Had no weight gain otherwise) -Blunts creativity -Possible balance issues (see comments) POSITIVE: -Blunts hypomania which gave me more realistic expectations -Lowered excessive daydreaming and racing thoughts which allowed me to start to fix my life WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS: Had to miss one dose a few times due to travel and medical procedures. It's an awful feeling. I thought I was getting sick. You feel your skin become itchy and your body become hot and uncomfortable. I felt like I couldn't sit still. But when I took it again, withdrawal symptoms disappeared after I slept. | Dosage: 25MG, 50, 100, then 50, 25. For the past year now on 1/4 of 25mg Seroquel. Taken at night before bedtime, preferably have bedtime earlier (9-10PM) since sleep quality on Seroquel is better when I sleep earlier. "Pushing past the sleepiness" on Seroquel is bad for me with my nightly dose. It just makes sleep quality suffer. About lowered creativity, I was lessening but not stopping my dose 1-3 days, every two months "to get some creativity back", and that helped because the bigger tablets are cheaper where I live and I've just been dividing them. When I want to lessen the dose a bit, I just divide them a tad smaller. Note: Taken with 200mg, then 100mg Lamictal at the same time. I'm unsure if it's from Seroquel, Lamictal, or both, but I developed balance issues soon after starting Lamictal, which became a bit stronger on Seroquel (I.e. have to hold railings going upstairs since I don't trust my balance) Also, taking N-Acetyl Cysteine 6 days a week for the past year has made me rely less on Seroquel. It has the same hypomania blunting effect with the benefit of increased focus at the cost of some anhedonia if I take it for a month straight without stopping. | M | 28 | 8 years 25MG 1X D | 2/21/2025 | |
| 3 | Bipolar 2 | I'm still taking this medication. NEUTRAL: -STRONG feeling of wanting to sleep within 30 mins to 1 hr of taking it -Hard to wake up before it wears off. Sometimes have a week where appetite is strong and I snack at night, but other weeks I just sleep early and have no issues with it. Had no weight gain otherwise) -Blunts creativity -Possible balance issues (see comments) -Inflames nostrils at night sometimes (first 5 years) POSITIVE: -Blunts hypomania which gave me more realistic expectations -Lowered excessive daydreaming and racing thoughts which allowed me to start to fix my life WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS: Had to miss one dose a few times due to travel and medical procedures. It's an awful feeling. I thought I was getting sick. You feel your skin become itchy and your body become hot and uncomfortable. I felt like I couldn't sit still. But when I took it again, withdrawal symptoms disappeared after I slept. | Dose: 25MG, 50, 100, then 50, 25. For the past year now on 1/4 of 25mg. Taken w/ 200mg, then 100mg Lamictal now. Both taken at night before bed, preferably sleep earlier (9-10PM) since sleep quality on Seroquel is better when I sleep earlier. "Pushing past sleepiness" on it is bad for me with my nightly dose. It just worsens sleep quality. For lowered creativity, I was lessening (not stopping) my dose 1-3 days, every two months "to get some creativity back" and that helped because big tablets are cheaper where I live and I've just been dividing them. When lessening the dose a bit, I just divide them a tad smaller. (Don't do if unstable) Also, I'm unsure if it's Seroquel, Lamictal, or both, but I developed balance issues soon after starting Lamictal, which became a bit stronger on Seroquel (I.e. have to hold railings going upstairs since I don't trust my balance) Also, taking N-Acetyl Cysteine 5-6 days a week for the past year has made me rely less on Seroquel. It has the same hypomania blunting effect with the plus of increased focus, at the cost of some anhedonia when taking for a month straight w/o stopping. UPDATE: Changing rating from 4 to 3 because inflamed nostrils before bed was terrible and I had problems with that for years before I got a particle HEPA filter and cleaned my bedroom more often. I suspect the on-and-off nasal congestion caused bad sleep early on, but that "bad sleep" was much better than the worse insomniac lack of sleep I | M | 28 | 8 years 25MG 1X D | 2/27/2025 | |
