| 4 | PTSD, Major Depression/insomnia | Dry mouth, rapid onset of drowsiness, "black-out" like sleep experience, slight hangover the following day, increased appetite at night after taking medication, slight memory loss from time of sleep until morning -- i.e.: would fall asleep with all the lights on and not remember the next morning. | My psychotherapist prescribed Seroquel for me after my boyfriend committed suicide on our vacation -- for PTSD and major depression. I had already been on Lexapro and Xanax for depression and anxiety for five years. Seroquel, despite its intense side effects, which others mention, helped me greatly as I navigated through that traumatic experience (along with therapy). Yes, It can knock you out at night and yes, it gives you the munchies, however if you have sleep related issues with anxiety or PTSD, it could be helpful. Each person is different. I was able to take half a dose of the 25 mg prescribed and stay asleep and not have the night terrors and flashbacks. I still use it from time to time if I have an extremely anxiety producing life situation as I have had chronic insomnia as well-- the half a dose will allow me to sleep through the night like a rock. Take it early however as it has a long half life and tends to linger the next morning. | F | 44 | 1 years 25mg 1X D | 6/26/2011 | |
