| 1 | Anxiety | My sister is mentally retarded and was prescribed Seroquel for Anxiety in the Summer of 2008. By November 2008, she was hospitalized in a mental hospital for depression and thoughts that she was going to die. Rather than review the medication, she was now placed on anti psychotic drugs, e.g., Risperdal, Cogentin, Thorazine and Ativan as well as Seroquel. After one month she was released from the hospital. My sister continued to make complaints that she "didn;t feel well" and wnated to go to the hosiptal, but they were unheeded. Finally two months ago, she began to again decompensate. She was taken to a hospital emergency room, and even though she is mentally retarded, someone convinced her to voluntarily admit herself to the hospital. She was then sent to a mental health facility that was not licensed or certified to handle mentally retarded persons. For over two weeks, she didn;t bathe or wash her hair; no one would help her.
