| 1 | stomach ulcers | At first I had no side effects and the Nexium stopped my ucler pain and I was feeling very well. I tried to stop taking the medicine after two moths and my stomach pain returned. After a few more months I switched to Prilosec which gave me much stomach pain so i switched back to the Nexium. 1 1/2 years after I first began to take the Nexium I started experiencing side effects from the drug. I was very tired/fatigued and my stomach would become upset. I first noticed pain in my lower legs/shins and the pain began to spread througout my body. My legs, hips, back, shouders, neck, and arms ached horribly. Blood test came back normal and it was unknown why I was so ill. I searched Nexium side effects and learned that people had experienced similiar symptoms as I was. I have discontinued Nexium for 1 week and am feeling much better. I have a dull burning sensation in my stomach which seems to be getting better. I have been drinking ginger tea w/ honey and drinking Apple cider vinega | Nexium worked well at first, but became a poison in my body. I do not recommend anyone taking it. | M | 37 | 2 years 40mg 1X D | 10/19/2011 | |
| 1 | stomach ulcers | Update: Nov. 28, 2011 after a series of blood tests, consultations with Dr's, etc. I have been diagnosed with Drug Induced Lupus from taking Nexium. I have been off Nexium for approximately 1 1/2 months. I am still experiencing body aches mainly in my arms, lower legs, and feet, but the fatigue, severe myalgia, and arthritic type symptoms have improved. I occasionally still experience a bad taste in my mouth. I have also been diagnosed with glaucoma in my left eye. Drug Induced Lupus causes eye disorders so I have learned. I cannot take any NSAID anti-inflammatory medicine due to it previously causing stomach ulcers. If I could my symptoms would be much improved than they currently are. Hopefully the pain will completely go away, my eye gets better, and this experience will just be a bad memory. | M | 37 | 40mg 1X D | 11/28/2011 | ||
| 1 | stomach ulcers | Joint, muscle, bone pain in my ankles, lower legs, and arms/elbows. Hair loss on lower legs, fatigue. | I had my 3rd ANA (anti-nuclear antibody) test completed in July for my diagnosis of Drug Induced Lupus from taking Nexium. The result was a 4.2 (normal is 0.0 to 0.9). My first test was a 6.2 in Nov. 2011 and 2nd test was a 5.1 in January 2012. At this rate I will be better in about a year (hopefully). I am still experiencing pain in my lower legs and elbows. The pain in my legs moved to the outside and I have lost all my leg hair on the outside of my lower legs. This drug has caused a lack of quality of life for a year now. I am unable to do a lot of things I used to take for granted. The ulcers I was suffering from were nothing compared to the ill side effects of Nexium. I am having a particularly bad day today and am suffering from extreme fatigue along with the side effects. I have good days and bad days. I am seriously considering contacting an attorney. How this drug was ever approved and deemed safe is beyond me! | M | 38 | 40mg 1X D | 8/17/2012 | |
