1  Severe nausea, ? ulcer Headache, flu-like illness, sore eyeballs, aching all over, especially knees, shoulders, back, loss of appetite-4 kg in 18 days, anxiety, depression, extreme fatigue, numb feet, aching and numbness in left hand, dizziness, heart palpitations, racing heart, left hip so sore I could not sleep on it. I started taking Nexium after 3 weeks of extreme nausea without other GERD symptoms. All blood tests,ultrasound/CT scans were normal. I had nausea on the first few days but not as severe as before. Saw a gastro doc last week who scheduled me for a gastroscopy next month. After 1 week on the Nexium I started to experience flu like symptoms and all of the previously mentioned side effects. I thought I had the flu but got over it after 3 or 4 days. Even went back to work because I was feeling well. After 2 days at work, a return of the same symptoms-how could you have the flu twice in a week? Saw my GP but she wanted me to have more tests-clueless. After several nights of feeling so bad I almost called an ambulance, I googled my symptoms and was convinced I had MS or cancer or lupus etc. Something reached out to me through the fog this morning and I found this site. I could have copied and pasted other people's symptoms as being the same as mine. From today, I take no more Nexium!!! I took a months course of this drug 6 years ago, and had similar symptoms, and now realise that it was probably the Nexium as well. If it works for you without side effects, then you're very lucky. If not, get off the stuff and look for alternatives. No one has the right to say we're all mad and making stuff up. How do you make up sore eyeballs! especially when you're not the only one who has them! Thank god I found this site!!! F 56 18 days

1  Severe nausea, ? ulcer Have been off Nexium for 10 days now and I feel like a new person. Still a bit shellshocked from the whole Nexium experience (see previous post) but I have an appetite again and have only had one episode of the nausea, gnawing stomach pain that sent me down the Nexium Highway of Hell in the first place. I will be telling everyone I know to steer clear of this horrendous drug. Awaiting my Helicobacter breath test result. If its positive I'll have to find an alternative treatment to Nexium. I have a script for Tagamet which seems to rate better and have fewer side effects. Fingers crossed. F 56
