| 4 | Severe Migraines | 1)Flushed Niacin-Type "rush" in head that lasts about 5 minutes. 2)I have developed Supra-ventricular tachycardia after the 5th year of taking it but not sure if it's related or not. 3)Lately I have been having a sensation of extremely heavy shoulders, it is alarming when it happens, so I started to keep a medical journal and it appears to happen anywhere up to 10 hours after my last dose of Imitrex. | My Migraines are severe and I do NOT get an "aura" or any warning that one is oncoming. If I don't take the Imitrex, the migraine will last 3 days and the pain migrates from the left side of my head to the right progressively. I get nauseous and will hate certain sounds. The strange thing is that I don't find relief by lying in a dark quiet room, because this makes the migraine more noticeable and all I feel is the sensation of what I would imagine an axe stuck into my scull would feel like. I usually will sit in low light with minimal noise and try to sit with my dog or cat and relax. Imitrex ALWAYS gets rid of my Migraines if not on the first dose then an hour later when I take the second dose the migraine goes away. It has never NOT worked in 14 years. I usually get migraines around my cycle. But now at 53 my cycle is no longer consistent and the migraines vary along with it. I do not want to stop taking it but I also worry about the side effects, especially not knowing if it is the cause of the SVT. Now with this new symptom of the heavy shoulders I am going to speak to my Doctor because it is a very strong unsettling feeling like nothing I've ever felt before. It's not pain, but is as I said very alarming. Both shoulders feel equally HEAVY and I feel as though I can't lift them although I can.
