1  Osteopenia I had a deadly reaction to oral monthly Boniva after the second pill. Several hours after, my lower back began aching. I will preface all my symptoms as severe so I am not repetitive. The following reactions progressed very rapidly. Most of my symptoms were not documented in the Post-Marketed Adverse Event Section of the Prescribing Information until after my horrific event. I began having heartburn, then vomiting. My entire musculature felt like it was rapidly wasting away with muscle and joint pain. I started having severe chills and a very high fever. I could not walk. My thinking was somewhat unclear and fuzzy. I went to the ER of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY via ambulance. I was horribly weak and could barely speak. My B/P (normally hypertensive) was 80/50. My pulse ox was in the 80’s. My temp between 103 - 104 F. I was insistent that I did not have an infection and that this was a severe reaction to Boniva. Work up to r/o infection was done. My symptomatic and severe adverse events (particularly the noted hypophosphatemia) were not documented in the PI at the time I took the drug. I was certain that the PI would eventually reflect the updated post marketing data once this trending was seen. F 57 2 months
