| 1 | Dental: Root canal, 2 new crowns | Extreme lethargy, short but very emotional crying spells, depression, general malaise, “fogginess” of mind, confusion, slightly blurred vision, temporarily feeling feverish, waves of complete exhaustion, heaviness of limbs, slight constipation and diarrhea. | I am on day 6 of a 10 day course. I have taken this medication before with no problems. I had been blaming my symptoms on a lengthy (4 hour) dental visit 6 days ago, then on the painkillers (which I stopped taking 2 days ago), but I couldn’t find any similar stories online to support my theory. It didn’t occur to me until today that it could be my antibiotic. This morning, I felt as if I actually nodded off twice while sitting in a chair, drinking my coffee. I have never felt that way before. I won’t go so far as to say I have felt suicidal on this medication, but there were a few moments of such despair in the first 2 or 3 days... That is NOT how I am. The worst has been the confusion and the lethargy. That is not getting better, and may be getting worse. I have an appointment with my dentist today, and I will ask him to switch me to something else. I am not 100% back to my old self, I am still tiring easily, but I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER ALREADY! If you are experiencing any of the symptoms I listed yesterday, call your doc right away and get off this medicine! I don't believe the symptoms will resolve themselves (mine got worse), and there are other antibiotics WITHOUT CLAVULANIC ACID. CLAVULANIC ACID IS BEING USED AS AN ANTIDEPRESSANT IN CLINICAL TRIALS.
