| 3 | Sleep | Weight gain! Hunger, vivid dreams. | Would be a great drug if not for weight gain. | F | 40 | 7 weeks 3.75 1X day | 3/23/2021 | 3 | Anxiety and depression | I suffer from insomnia and mirtazapine really helps. It took around 3 weeks to help with the anxiety/depression. I would be happy to stay on them but for the bloating and weight gain. I don't usually have a weight problem but both times I have been on it my weight has rocketed. I have also become pre-diabetic both times. I am not eating any more that normal but the weight gain starts straight away. | Most medication gives me bad side effects and apart from the tiredness, fidgety legs and weight gain, mirtazapine suits me. I would therefore use it again in the future, as I have not been able to find another drug that works as well for me. | F | 69 | 9 months 15 1X day | 2/20/2021 | 5 | Sleep anxiety | Suffered on SSRI's. These are amazing and provided instant relief. | M | 47 | 4 days 15 1X day | 1/17/2021 | 2 | Axiety | Started on 15mg dizzy. Wanted off but doctor took me to 30mg Thanksgiving morning my head felt numb then that sat my left side of head felt numb. I take the remeron usually at 7 or 8pm and i dont fall asleep until 12 or so i guess u r suppose to eat alot on this medicine. Well i dont. Getting ready to switch doctors. Constant dizzy and weakness | F | 47 | 3 weeks 15 1X day | 12/3/2020 | 1 | Tremors shakiness | Horrible. I took only 1/2 pill of 15mg prescribed. Yes I slept 12 hrs non stop. The next day I couldnt get up from bed, completely dry throat nose and mouth, extremely drowsy dizzy and weak. Constipated and super aggressive. Didnt help with my neurological disorders only helped me to sleep by paying a high price with side effects the next day. | F | 47 | 1 days 7.5 1X day | 11/13/2020 | 1 | Depression | Bloating, weight gain, insatiable appetite, mood swings, headaches daily, bad taste in mouth, bugs crawling under my skin, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Nightmare so bad that I became an insomniac. Skin felt like I was on fire | Horrible horrible medication wouldn't recommend it because of the side effects and never mind withdrawal! Yikes! I was bedridden for three weeks only got up to have a bit of soup when I could handle it or going to the bathroom! Sometimes it would be coming out both ends! | F | 42 | 100 days 30 1X day | 10/18/2020 | 5 | Severe depressive episode | Really has helped me sleep and anxiety. Slight weight gain but well worth it. | F | 47 | 90 days 30 mg 1X day | 10/15/2020 | 1 | Anxiety Disorder GAD | Bad depression. total despair and lack of motivation or emotional feeling , Light Headedness, unable to function properly and did't care about anything or anyone including myself. | This is a really TERRIBLE drug. Was given Mirtazapine because new doctor didn't like prescribing Valium, which I had used most successfully on many occasions, so I agreed to try it - big mistake. Woke up after taking it feeling light headed, unable to function, and totally out of it. I was told it would also help me sleep at night, possibly did for the first few days but it wasn't a refreshing sleep, more like going to sleep and the alarm going off a minute later. I wasn't depressed when I started this medication, however it caused me to be. I would cry for no reason wherever I was, and lost all interest in life almost to the point of wanting to end it. At that point I immediately stopped taking it. It only took a few days to recover from the effects of Mirtazapine probably due to the fact that I hadn't used it for long. I still suffer from the anxiety and panic attacks I have had for most of my life but they are not as bad as the effects of Mirtazapine. The depression etc, disappeared after I stopped this drug, so I knew it was Mirtazapine that had caused my other problems. For me, this has been the most dangerous drug I have ever taken in more than fifty years of having anxiety problems. IN MY OPINION DO NOT TAKE IT OR BE CAREFUL AND STOP IT IF YOU START TO GET DEPRESSED | F | 69 | 2 months 15 1X day | 10/6/2020 | 1 | Supposed anxiety | Breathing, shortness of breath, acing joints, high blood pressure, bad dreams, dosile. | Nerve pain | M | 52 | 5 days 15 1X day | 9/19/2020 | 3 | IBS-D and anxiety | Increased appetite, started at 15mg and after 2 weeks symptoms returned. Dosage upped to 30 mg a day and after 1 month symptoms returned. | F | 35 | 2 months 30mg 1X day | 8/12/2020 | 1 | Anxiety and sleep | Dizziness, swelling, grogginess, weakness in my muscles, and lack of expression. | I have tried to get off of this medicine however it causes palpitations and stomach issues. | F | 53 | 3 days 15 mg 1X day | 8/2/2020 | 5 | PTSD, depression, schizoaffective | No side effects, Avanza helps me go to sleep and wake up energetic and generally in ok mood. | I've tried most of antidepressants on the menu until I've found Mirtazapine. It works for me. | F | 42 | 8 years 30 | 6/21/2020 | 2 | Insomnia | It was great for my insomnia. However, I started sleeping through all of my alarms, and I would also spend the first few hours of my day confused and disoriented. I stopped taking it daily when my boss, knowing I would never come hungover to work, expressed concern about a potential health problem when they noticed I suddenly spent most mornings somewhere on planet Neptune. The “brain fogs” and spacing out resolved when stopped taking the drug. | Aside from a change in work performance, I would have hyperrealistic nightmares (e.g finding loved ones dead in their homes) along with hardcore anxiety, which I never had previously. It is weird to describe how mirtazapine made me both exhausted/spacey and and pathologically anxious. These side effects also completely resolved when I stopped taking mirtazapine. I still take it occassionally for insomnia if it's bad enough, but only on slow weekends when I can risk sleeping in and lying around all day. | F | 29 | 90 days 30 | 5/22/2020 | 4 | Depression, Insomnia | Slight increase in appetite, some very vivid dreams (pretty cool not gonna lie) | Definitely helped me have deeper sleep. Can't say it affected my depression too much as I was on the lowest dose. | M | 20 | 8 months 15 MG | 5/15/2020 | 4 | Insomnia, Depression | Drowsiness, daytime drowsiness, extreme mindfulness 🙌 | I have insomnia episodes around once a month that can last up to a week. I've tried everything. xanax, ambien, trazadone, gabapentin. This time for my doctor visit I wanted something that isn't addictive, can possibly help me with my depression. Day 1 was not too bad, but very heavy drowsiness the next day. It kicks in within an hour for me and sets me sound asleep. Day two now, I am not as drowsy as yesterday. It gives me such a good feel of wellbeing which really helps my constant worrying and racing thoughts. I do smoke marijuana to help with anxiety at night and these two go together splendidly. | M | 26 | 2 days 15MG | 4/8/2020 | 1 | Depression and insomnia | Was on 15mg but still wasnt sleeping and still feeling depressed. Was put on 30mg but now Im having tingling and numbness in my hands, am having lots of trouble waking up, even after over 8 hours sleep, feel foggy headed most of the next day, plus very irritable. Never feel full no matter how much I eat, whereas before I was on it, I hardly ate anything. Ive put on over 1 stone in 5 weeks!!! | Need to try and change on to something else, I cant handle these side effects | F | 35 | 1 weeks 30mg | 4/3/2020 | 1 | Insomnia, depression, anxiety | Could not wake up next morning. Return to night terrors. Hallucinations. Incredible anxiety. | Tried waking after 8 hrs. Absolutely unable to get out of bed. After 12 hours, experiencing horrible hallucinations, I was able to fully waken, but full of anxiety and jittery all day. Will not take this again. Insomnia is better than the nightmares this caused. | F | 67 | 1 days 15 | 7/11/2019 | 3 | GAD/Social Phobia/Panic Attacks | Extreme hunger and loss of libido. Hunger and appetite problems can be conquered with lots of effort. Libido issue after a year hasn't improved. Sometimes normal desires can occur which is welcome when it happens. Great for getting to sleep. Some vivid dreams, nothing that creates a problem | I'd give this medication about a 3.5 if rating system permitted. I average about 75 mg/wk. I tried averaging about 63mg/wk but that caused stress levels to be intolerable. It seems to be better for panic attacks vs. GAD issues. Have a little too much stress but can't tolerate a higher dose. The amount of side effects and their intensity vs. the benefits causes me to want to keep searching for a better solution. Have tried taking a little gabapentin (100mg as needed) with this which may have some positive results. After taking antidepressants for 20 years I suffer from a little depression or I've developed a need/dependency for the drug class. Mirtaz does not seem to offer the mood lift that I need. I was hopeful that the sexual side might not be too severe but the libido issue is not good although ability is not bad. I continue to search for that best mix that until now remains elusive. I started this drug a year ago when I was 56. I'm not giving up on it yet. I'll likely try some other combinations. I had a bad serotonin syndrome hit which can really cause you to begin to doubt all the drugs and made me fearful of not finding something I can live with. So I want to be more patient. I tried a number of combinations with Nefazodone as the primary med. Nefaz did not seem to want to cooperate with other meds and led to the brick wall I hit before switching to Mirtaz. I tried taking brand Remeron but to me there was not detectable difference. | M | 57 | 1 years Apx 10.7mg 7X W | 6/18/2019 | 5 | Depression, sleeplessness, anxiety | bad dreams first night, increased appetite | I had been unable to sleep for over a week, just about 15 minutes per night, falling apart. My doctor prescribed 15mg (1/2 tab) of mirtazapine 1 hour before sleep. First night 4-5 hours sleep, but bad dreams. From there 6-8 hours good sleep each night, normal dreams. Fairly rapid lifting of depression (over 1-3 weeks) After 1 year stopped without any effects. Also found meditation (TM) beneficial - would not have done as well on the medication alone. | M | 68 | 1 years 15 MG 1X day | 3/6/2019 | 1 | depression | extreme aching of legs. unable to think, at all. | stopped all! thought. couldn't be depressed on this med, and couldn't be anything. was a lobotomy. i liked it and was SO depressed before i took the med- and was happy to swap the lobotomy for my terrible depression, but i also couldn't walk due to the EXTREME aching in my legs / myalgia, and that was not acceptable to me. one other thing: i was sleeping 20 hrs a day and having the worst nightmares ever. | M | 48 | 1 months 1X day | 9/25/2017 |
