5 | Collagenous Colitis | The only side effect I have so far is getting a little gassy and sometimes a low appetite.. | It took my watery diarrhea to 1x a day and the stools are formed. I take 1 4g scoop before bed and I am free to leave the house again and I can eat more foods in moderation without getting diarrhea and/or urgency. | F | 82 | 42 days 4g 1X day | 3/23/2024 | 5 | Urgency and frequency of bms | None | I've had the problem for 5 years, and tried everything. This works very well, and I don't have the concerns about my brain health that I had when taking Imodium. I don't have a gall bladder, and this may be the reason it works for me. It binds to fats that the gall bladder used to remove. Went from going 5-10 times a day to only 2 or 3. | F | 66 | 14 days 4 gram 1X day | 11/22/2020 | 3 | urgency | Better with it than without it. | 67 | 0 months 4 g | 8/16/2017 |
CHOLESTYRAMINE (CHOLESTYRAMINE): Cholestyramine is used along with a proper diet to lower cholesterol in the blood. Lowering cholesterol helps decrease the risk for strokes and heart attacks. In addition to a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking. Consult your doctor for more details. Cholestyramine may also be used to treat itching in people with too much bile acid caused by a certain type of liver/bile duct disease (partial biliary obstruction). This medication is known as a bile acid-binding resin. It works by removing bile acid from the body. In people with high cholesterol, this causes the liver to make more bile acid by using cholesterol in the blood. This helps to lower the cholesterol levels.
