| 4 | Severe Chronic Pain | Dry mouth after recently increasing my nightly dose from 60mg to 90mg | I suffer severe chronic pain as the result of multiple injuries received in a car accident. Nortriptyline allows me to sleep at night and also helps to control the muscle spasms/cramps I experience in my lower legs & feet. A year ago I tried to come off this drug but after a number of falls, leg & foot cramps - I am back on it | M | 58 | 7 years 90 1X day | 8/22/2017 | 1 | Back pain | I did face hell with it. Almost died. Fast heart beating, dizzyness, muscle weaknesses, horrible noise in the year. I had tried all Western and naturopathic treatments prior to taking this. But nothing was 100%. Side effects of dry mouth were worse during first month. Every other day I've been fine just normal anxiety. It really reduced the dizziness and vertigo I was having pretty much 24/7. I have a history of atypical migraines so I'm pretty sure my constant dizziness was related and why this med helped. I still get dizzy on days but I'd say I'm about 90-95% on most days. It took about 4-6 weeks for me to feel better. I got up and drank hot water with honey then tried to lay back down but couldn't so I paced until I was exhausted and finally laid back down and fell asleep, woke up 2 more times then finally just got up about 530. Thought I'd feel better but no...I was completely nauseous, horrible headache and still having anxiety attacks. SMOKING. This drug is excellent for those who want to stop smoking!! After the first week I noticed that I didn't crave for a cigarette for 6 hours. It just never enter my mind. The more I took the drug the more I didn't want to smoke. If I did it felt like I was licking an ashtray. It took only 2 months give or take to give them up. Tip: whilst you are busy you ever even get a craving. NB I found that I had to take 100mg before this worked but as I reduced to 50 and 25mg it was still effective. | F | 56 | 3 months 25-125 1X day | 4/5/2016 | 1 | Anxiety/Mood Disorder | This drug caused Unbelievable Aggressive behaviour I was easily irritated and Very short tempered, which for me was very strange as I'm usually a very calm and easy going person even with my mood disorder I have never felt the way I did while taking this medication. This drug made me want to physically harm other people to the point I'd fantasize about what I would do to someone who had irritated me earlier, or people who in all reality didn't do anything at all. It caused me to yell at people while driving, caused me to say things I normally wouldn't say, caused extremely scary nightmares. When I wasn't feeling like assaulting someone this drug only elevated my anxiety and panic attacks, did not help it one bit!! I am not pain free by any manner of means, but a huge improvement from how the pain was when I took the 50 mg immediate release capsules.
