ERYTHROMYCIN ETHYLSUCCINATE  (ERYTHROMYCIN ETHYLSUCCINATE):  Erythromycin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It may also be used to prevent certain bacterial infections. Erythromycin is known as a macrolide antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats or prevents only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu).  1  bronchitis Severe rash which started on inner thigh. The rash turned intos thousands of red bumps covering my entire body, including inside my mouth. These then turned into blisters. It was painful and itchy and made me miserable for over a month. The only relief came from Aveeno colloidal oatmeal bath. I am allergic to penicillin also. F 31 4 days
