| 1 | Familial hypercholesterolemia | indigestion, heartburn, nausea, full body itch. | Having the Familial version of high cholesterol, statins never worked plus I had reactions to all of them. This was my last chance. Sixteen days after starting, nausea and constant heartburn developed. Two days after that, intense full body itch started. Doc said stop the med.s. Two days later, no more heartburn and the itch was much improved. As a test, 1 week later med was restarted. On day 2 heartburn returned, on day 4 indigestion returned and on day 6 the itch returned. Doc said no more. I never had a chance to find out if Nexletol was effective because I couldn't get past the reactions. Thanks to cholesterol, I had a 'silent' heart attach on 12/24/25. One stent was put in place. You are very lucky if your body can tolerate these drugs. I can't take any of the meds and I'm tired of rabbit food. The first 2 1/2 weeks were great and then I developed a severe cough with copious amounts of mucus. I had a similar respiratory problem a year ago so I thought so my doctor prescribed Prednisone and cough meds. Finished those up in 5 days, still had coughing and mucus. Went back to my doctor and was given antibiotics and on the way out the door, I asked if the cough and mucus could be a side effect of Nexletol. Doctor said Yes. Told me to start antibiotics which gave me horrible stomach upset and if not better in 5 to 10 days to stop Nexletol. I have stopped taking the Nexletol and cough and mucus get better one day and terrible the next.
