I felt great and was compliant with the doctor's orders. Then I started to hear my heart pounding in my ears all the time. When I went to my family physician my bp was 160/110! I was told to stop taking Effexor immediately, or start taking bp meds. I stopped the effexor and my bp went to normal. With my family history, I was not willing to risk long term effects of hypertension. It was very helpful for depression and anxiety, and sleep, however, in the last year and a half, I have developed a pretty severe head tremor, and don't know if it is related to this drug.
