AMLODIPINE BESYLATE  (AMLODIPINE BESYLATE):  Amlodipine is used with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Amlodipine belongs to a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Amlodipine is also used to prevent certain types of chest pain (angina). It may help to increase your ability to exercise and decrease the frequency of angina attacks. It should not be used to treat attacks of chest pain when they occur.  1  High Blood Pressure Diarrhea, nose bleeds, bleeding gums, exhaustion, weakness, swelling, struggling to breath, GERD,sick to stomach. Horrible stuff. Left me unable to function. Could not leave house for any length of time, especially if I had eaten. Left me running for the toilet and often not making it. Could not bend knees and could barely walk due to swelling. Bending over caused bile to come up. Was too weak to even sit up come dinner time. Some days was too weak to even fix food. Would grab whatever was near, eat a few bites and collapse in bed. Did not take this med today and feel MUCH better. F 58 4 months

 5  high blood pressure possibly a bit of fatigue, but hard to tell. I have been prescribed other classifications of BP drugs, but this one has the fewest side effects. When I had an angiogram I had no calcium deposits on my arteries but I don't know if this has anything to do with the amlodipine. I have no swelling unlike some other patients. F 68 30 years

 4  High blood pressure At first you feel bad like dizzy, out of breath, headache, rapid heart beat, but as you get used to the meds it all goes away. It takes a while to start feeling better from the side effects. I take it at night too since it makes me tired. It might cause some acid reflux 6 months into it. But it works great. F 38 6 months
