| 4 | Uric Acid Kidney Stones | I was having Uric acid stones on a DIALY basis. THis lead to a nephrostomy. I found a nephroligist who didn't need a map, flashlight and both hands to find their back side; who prescribed Allopurinol. God Bless, I've been stone free for 3 months. | M | 48 | 120 days | 11/8/2005 | 4 | Gout | I gained a lot of weight very quickly after starting to take Allopurinol, but my weight has stabilized since. I have read, and experienced, that gout can make people feel anguished, depressed, apprently the uric acid affects the brain, i have also heard, and i can confirm that gout can increase the risk of having a seizure (if u are epileptic) When u first start to take Allopurinol it will destroy buildups of uric acid cristals, so the amount of uric acid in the blood can actually go up before going down. So it's not at all surprizing that starting with Allopurinol causes some mental problems. I have been using it over a year now, and the only time i felt bad was when i stopped taking it for over a week.
