HR went to 190 and it took 2 days for the hospital to convert me with meds. (Rythmol) I'm now off metoprolol and norpace and on Rythmol. I'll rate there. | M | 34 | 2.5 months | 9/12/2006 | 5 | Atrial Fibrilation | Dries your body out. Must drink a LOT of water daily to avoid constipation. | M | 3 years | 11/8/2002 |
NORPACE (DISOPYRAMIDE PHOSPHATE): This medication is used to treat certain types of serious (possibly fatal) irregular heartbeat, such as persistent ventricular tachycardia. It is used to restore normal heart rhythm and maintain a regular, steady heartbeat. Disopyramide is known as an anti-arrhythmic drug. It works by blocking certain electrical signals in the heart that can cause an irregular heartbeat. Treating an irregular heartbeat can decrease the risk for blood clots, and this effect can reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)
