| 4 | Allergic reaction (mosquito bite) | Administered IV push. Soon after experienced flushing and severe pins & needles type tingling...like burning fiery rain trickling down over my head, which then passed down to my perineal area. It was unpleasant and a bit scary, because I was worried I was having an allergic reaction to it, but it passed over in about a minute with no other adverse effects. | Once the side-effect was over it did help considerably with my allergic reaction. I’d take it again if needed, but ask if it could be diluted more and given IV drip or a much slower IV push. By this afternoon he was screaming and bright red with hives all over his body. We went to the ER and they said to give more benedryl. By the time we left he was inconsolable, thrashing, pulling at his throat, wanting to be held but also not wanting to be touched. He looked so sad and in agony but I had no way to help him. Even with the benedryl it took several hours to calm him. Finally he fell asleep and took a long nap, then woke up and we repeated the process of giving benedryl and him acting like a totally different child. I have no way of knowing how he is feeling but the decadron must have had a terrible effect on him. He was biting his hands, it was awful.
