| 1 | Post surgical nerve pain | Vile addictive drug. Gained 50lbs. I was 130 going in, so 50 was alot. Expensive. $1200 a month without insurance. Have to taper down to prevent potential seizures. Addictive. 4 months of flu-like withdrawal symptoms each time I tapered down. Vomitting, shakes, sweats. Really great. Didn't help the pain as well as targeted nerve blocks that don't have horrific symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms worse than opioid withdrawal. Cognitive deficits while on it. Couldn't hold a fluent conversation. Knew what I wanted to say, couldn't form the words. Made massive mistakes at work. Appeared drunk at meetings not able to communicate fluently. Once I ran out of Lyrica and didn't get my prescription filled for 4 days and felt no withdrawal symptoms | This drug literally saved my life. My neuropathy pain was so bad I couldn't sleep, walk or get out of bed. Not only did I have the typical pins & needles and burning pain but a constant throbbing that would ratchet itself up when trying to sleep and felt like I was being kicked by a horse in the bottom of my feet. I would fall asleep for maybe fifteen minutes and then be awoke by a brutal throbbing that would just jolt me. Within the first two weeks of taking Lyrica the throbbing was reduced, by the second month it almost gone and now it is completely gone. The pins & needles are reduced significantly to where I can pretty much just ignore them, the amount the pain has gone down is like going from a 10 to a 2. No burning feeling at all any longer. I'm now exercising and taking long walks. Before Lyrica I was at the end of my rope and had tried everything available, including opiates (that did nothing). I would love to know if any of of the manufacturers have used this drug or would like there family’s too give it a go, it sucks and flooded the Uk market with none of the advertisements and warnings that the USA had, our doctors heard it worked on nerve pain and gave it a go on patients. | Don’t take unless you’re happy to be on it for life with horrible side effects that are not widely diagnosed in the Uk, just put down to your initial diagnosis. I look like the elephant man some days, I haven’t had a normal life in years.... I wouldn’t be as pissed off if I hadn’t had a single abscess until I started taking the Pregabalin, not one doctor to this date has put two and two together.... Initially it feels nice, euphoric even and I became hopeful it would finally address my anxieties and, as a side effect of such relief would help my depression and increase function. Instead, it got worse as treatment continued. Dose was increased and decreased depending on tolerability. At 600mg daily I was bed bound and feeling extremely depressed. Nothing in life felt worth doing, quite the opposite in fact. Even at 200mg daily it was appalling. I am off it now, just. I used (and I do NOT endorse the following without instruction from a doctor, only describe my own use) diazepam to ease withdrawal. Since I have not been on Lyrica for too long, cutting it back and coming off of it has only made me feel better, obv | How the hell some of these drugs pass into regular use I have no idea. It seems so many suffer while taking Lyrica that one would think the government would conclude risk is not worth benefit. I have never felt quite so 'suicidal' in my life. Perhaps the pharmaceutical industry is as corrupt as so called conspiracy theories suggest. Diazepam and Xanax work fairly well for extreme anxiety with very few side effects, and patients get on well with them ('addiction' can be a problem indeed, but the former drug at least is not THAT difficult to withdraw from.) Yet the stuff of nightmares, at least for the majority of us, like Lyrica are promoted as being better with fewer side effects. Very worrying indeed. It should go without saying, if this is working for you then great. Keep taking it! Don't be frightened by reviews like mine. But if you're suffering then go back to your doctor and demand to be moved onto something else which has been around for longer. In my own opinion too, I would suggest people don't start this drug unless absolutely necessary because I've just been through two months of hell needlessly. Better to use more conventional medications. Took no Lyrica on Saturday 1 July, ended up vomiting, nauseous, headache, shivering so took 75 mg at 1 o'clock Sunday morning 2 July 17. Cut all sugar and carbohydrates from diet, just ate boiled eggs, vegetables and fillet steak. Took 75 mg 21:00 Sunday night and slept OK. Last Lyrica I ever took, just had to take 10 mg Urbanol at 21:00 on both 3 & 4 July to sleep. Since then no drugs. Had Greek salad, olives, and vegetables, no coffee, tea or fruit juice, just milk and water. Today, 10 July 17, still no medication, eat a boiled egg per day and vegetables, no sugar. Start feeling better. Ulcer in mouth almost gone. First off, I'm a recovering addict on suboxone 8 yrs and they're impossible to get off of. So, these withdrawals weren't noticeable right away. I got high off them and my bf noticed right away. I also almost got myself arrested on them, destroying all the hard work I've done. I am having chest pains, a fever, irritability, eczema, and hair thinning. Also I saw no real reason an epileptic should be on this, especially a former addict. I'm having back pain as well. Withdrawals are still not as bad as suboxone if your thinking of trying that. I only know a couple people that have been able to get off of it. Also, only take 1mg in the a.m and another at night, threerest does no good. | I wish I had read these reviews sooner. LYRICA (PREGABALIN): This medication is used to treat pain caused by nerve damage due to diabetes, shingles (herpes zoster) infection, or spinal cord injury.
