I would like some of these people to try a placebo and see if they have so many crazy "symptoms". I do believe all medications come with some side effects, everything in life has a side effect, a reaction if you will. It has been my experience that a lot of people taking a medication attribute every change in their life to the medication. There have been so many studies about people who think they are taking a med and are actually taking a placebo and come up with a wack of "side effects". These people with the placebo effect really make me wonder. Anyways, in general hormones will have some effect on ones libido and mood. Expect some changes. My previous contraceptive history was 5 years on Orthocept (where I experienced a 25 lb weight gain, that was lost when I stopped the pill) and 3 years on Ortho Evra patch (no weight gain, just issues with product delivery - minor rashes at patch site). I was very reluctant to go back on any kind of pill bc of my past experience w/ weight gain, but my ob/gyn assured me that this was as low as you could go in the world of hormones. Maybe it's too little hormone?! I stopped taking BC for appoximately 6 months because I was not sexually active and no longer needed it. However, another reason was extreme hair loss I noticed steadily while on Yasmin. 6 months later, my doctor gave me Yaz. It made me break out into serious cystic acne I had NEVER experienced before for approximately 6 months. Lots of people note that 3 months is the maximum time you should try a new pill, however, it did take 5-6 months. I kept going because I still needed the Birth Control. Everyone is different and the chemicals react differently to everyone. I have noticed a little hair loss, but nothing as drastic as on Yasmin. Yaz also has given me irregular periods - again. Instead of too much, it really never comes. I know I should be thanking the heavens, but I like to have it so I know everything is running as it should.
