After 4 days of the IV along with Rocephine my WBC dropped from 23000 to 12000 and was released to continue to take for 7 more days with Cefdinir...allergic to Cipro. I may have to have a bowel resection and will see if vancomycin is another option bc I have vestibular issues and Flagyl made it worse. He said everything looked good, and I had no signs of anything wrong. He made weird comments as he did the exam. I was left in the room for hours before he came in and just threw a paper at me with a metronidazole prescription. I scheduled with my regular doctor later that morning, and she told me not to get the pills because the gel was better. She refused to even listen to me about not having any symptoms of bv. I got the gel and it was a nightmare. This was 3 months ago, one dose(also too high of a dosage for someone my size) and I still have issues. I went back to a different ER about a week later where they found a horrible UTI, like I knew it was. My gynecologist said I never even had BV. This is the worst medicine ever. I will never take it again. FLAGYL (METRONIDAZOLE): Metronidazole is an antibiotic that is used to treat a wide variety of infections. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria and parasites. This antibiotic treats only certain bacterial and parasitic infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections.
