| 1 | Short temper - anxious | While on Effexor XR I never had any side effects. Trying to go off Effexor XR has been a nightmare. I am now on 75 mg a day and I tried weaning and withdrawal is horrific. I'm going to now try 37.5 mg a day for a few months & see if it is any easier. Symptoms from withdrawal - nauseau, brain zaps, irritable, crying. if I would have known these side effects would happen, I would have NEVER gone on this medication. | My dr. & I were talking about going off Effexor a few years back, but I had such severe hot flashes from menopause and Effexor was supposed to help.
