| 4 | dissassociation/depersonalization | nothing major, really....some drowsiness, that's about all...though, to be honest, my brain was pretty screwed up awhile ago from taking a drug in a different class, so it's a little hard to judge (i have long term side effects from the other drug...loss of interest in sex, impotence, loss of instincts and appetites, moderate anhedonia, etc...) | so far, so good...i've been on this med for about a week, and it helps my symptoms (feeling like my consciousness is separating from my body being the foremost symptom) quite a bit...just wish the half life was four hours longer...when 20 hours is up, i start feeling like i'm losing it again... | M | 33 | 1 weeks | 1/10/2008 | 4 | Anxiety/phobia/panic attacks | Mainly i experienced a dazed, zombie like effect with difficulty focusing or concentrating. I also noticed I was getting more headaches and had a loss of appetite. I also tended to stumble while walking and had a hard time speaking. Makes you extremely groggy. Noticed I forgot a lot of things and was more absentminded, but it helped get my mind off what I was anxious about. | Despite the effects this drug does help with anxiety and the symptoms are better than the pain of anxiety. I would recommend not to take more than two .5 tablets per day. It helped me sleep and calmed me down after a severe break up. My doctor put me on it as a precaution due to past experience with panic and generalized anxiety/ depression with no results from Zoloft. After taking it for some time, it started making me space out; which is completely unlike me. It is overly prescribed and so many people are unaware of how habit forming it can be. Once you take it for some time it gets hard not to take it, and you have to slowly stop taking it or else to get adverse reactions such as increased anxiety. After some time it didn't even help out the anxiety, which it is suppose to do. I had a new job and I would wake up at night thinking about it. If I had trouble falling asleep at night I would take .5 mg at bed time. When that happened, I would take .25 mg and would usually fall back to sleep within 20-30 minutes and wake up at my regular time feeling refreshed. No residual effects. I never got dependent on it as I almost never needed it on the weekends and after about 2 months I was comfortable with the new job and had no trouble sleeping even without the drug. I kept the unused portion of the prescription for occasional use. I was in 5 mg Valium for 2 years, then Ativan 2.5mg daily for 6 months. Wanted something that would last longer and with a longer half life so if I want to taper off it will be easier. Within 4 days ai was back to my old self, no anxiety, panic and agoraphobia almost completely gone. I can het out and do things again. Lasts for ages and makes me feel normal. Great medication. I thought it best to swap from Ativan due to the long duration of the drug and the long half life. Couldn’t be happier with my choice. Btw I have tried over 10 different medications like ssri, snri, tricyclic, antipsychotics, tetracyclics and the Clonazepam kicks their butt to the kerb! Also my psychiatrist told me that the anxiolytic properties of Clonazepam do not wear off for people with severe anxiety disorders. I have chronic abdominal pain along with the headaches. I have been in and out of the hospital for the pain and alot of lab work and CT scans and nothing found. This drug is very harmful.
