1  [email protected] I had taken CLONAZEPAM for a few years..noticed I had to take naps during the day. One day 'fell asleep at the wheel' during trafic time..Did not hit a car nor was I hit. Adoctor told me the Clonazepam buildsu[ in your si=ystem the older you get..so i quit 'cold turkey'. BIG MISTAKE. I didn't sleep 'at all' for 1 1/2 months. I was miserable! it finally wore off after I started taking Temazepam. With Clonazepam 1mg I was getting no more than 3 hrs sleep. With Temazapam, I get approx 5 hours sleep...BUT I am beginning to get sleepy again during the day. Could the Clonazepam resodial be kicking back in again? Which is the worst as far as side affectsl..Clonazepam or Tenazepam? F 79 50 years

1  Anxiety sleep It made me feel angry and upset. It gave me severe anxiety. I felt like I was going kinda crazy. Got off of it and felt much better. It's possible it was poorly manufactured and that why I felt bad. My advice, don't touch this toxic poisonous drug, you will be much better off. This drug didn't help me at all. Docs don't like to prescribe it, it addictive and it made me feel awful. Stay away from it!!!! M 73 30 days

1  prescribed to titrate off xanax Turns me into a zombie. I sleep up to 12 hours nightly. Have little or no energy to get things done in daytime, evening. Can't get organized to accomplish tasks. I was given this drug in a detox facility (a good one, client-centred) to get me off xanax which I'd been on since 1984 - I was 70 yrs. old and the College of Physicians and Surgeons where I live said all docs had to get their older patients off high doses of benzos. I was on 3.5 mg xanax daily. The idea is clonaz. has a much longer half-life and "they say" it is easier to get off of. Think heroin and methodone. We'll see. The only thing I like about it is it lasts longer than xanax (though it takes longer to kick in) so you're not going thru withdrawal several times daily! A considerable benefit, but the zombification is a total drag!!! PS - You shouldn't limit our gender choices to male and female! It's 2019, for crying out loud! 72 2 years

1  Taking clonazepam for sleeping I took clonazemam for sleeping for about 10 years. It helped me sleep better and to get to sleep but I would never take this drug again. I was in the hospital for a kidney transplant and I had told the Dr's that I wanted to quit taking the drug. I found out later that they stopped it all at once at the time of the operation. Three days later in the hospital my legs started twiching and this strange tingling started to move up my whole body. I was shaking and trying to dig the hair out of my head. I could not stop the anxiety atack. They finally decided that it was because of not taking clonazepam. They started me back on it and I was better within an hour. This must be the most addicting pill out there. Am slowly trying to stop taking it now. M 70 10 years

1  I was so drugged I don't remember! Everything on the side effects list "plus" many that are mentioned in other comments on this site. Clonazepam is horrendous. It has taken me almost 3 years to decrease from 3mg to .5mg.. I am trying to get by on .25 and can't seem to totally discontinue. The diagnoses as found in my medical records is: OCD, Dissociative Identity Disorder, MPD, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Mixed State (psychiatry), Dysphoric Manic State, Dissociative Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Delusional Disorder, Paranoia Disorder, Major Affective Disorder, Depression with Psychosis plus, Psychomotor Retardation. Because of the prescribed drugs, I developed very difficult medical issues such as Gerd, Sleep Apnea, and Incontinence. The FDA needs to be aware of comments made on Ask a Patient, perhaps people could get the help they need instead of being thrown into the legal drug system. Good news: although drugged, I awakened in mid 2007 with a clear mind, researched the drugs, began my decent and am alive once more. I reluctantly take one medication, a .25 clonazepam and it is still horrendous and very controlling. I want to be totally free of clonazepam, life has passed me by (over 30 years gone). I have color in my life once more, and I love living. Any fear I currently experience is directed at Psychiatrists and the power given them by the court system in America (forced drugging and ECT or Electroconvulsive Therapy) F 69 14 years

1  insomnia due to autonomic neuropath loss of balance, muscle cramps, burning sensation in my brain, loss of appetite, slight headaches, still get no more than an avg. of 3 to 4 hrs. sleep each night, and numbness on brain. I would definitely advise anyone to not let any M.D. or Neurologist suggest that anyone get started on Clonazepam, because of its various side effects, as well as having possible life-threatining side effects, if stopped abruptly. E.G: Uncontrollable seizures that can't be stopped… M 67 18 months

1  Anxiety While taking 2-3 times a week was slowly going into withdrawal. Drug works fine at quelling anxiety and insomnia at first, but as you go into withdrawal unknowingly those come back. Over time even that low dose causes me to become a zombie with dulled emotions. Now tapering off. Will never take again. Just don't. It may seem like a lifesaver in the beginning but it will stab you in the back. Then when you try to get off be prepared for a stretch of insomnia and anxiety that are very unpleasant. The 18-50 hr half-life means that only taking 2-3 times a week it can build up in your system and over more than a few weeks, you're now where you can't just stop abruptly. Very dangerous med like ALL benzos. F 67 2 years

5  GENERALIZED ANXIETY SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS. SPARSE EPISODES WHERE IN CANNOT COMPLETELY CONCENTRATE. I WAS TAKEN OFF XANAX .5MG FOUR TIMES DAILY. I HAD BEEN TAKING THE XANAX OR VALIUM CONTINUOUSLY FOR OVER 20 YEARS PREVIOUSLY. I WAS PLACED ON 1 MG OF CLONAZEPAM TWICE DAILY ALONG WITH 10 MG OF LEXAPRO ONCE DAILY. THE XANAX WITHDRAWAL TOOK ABOUT THREE WEEKS AT WHICH TIME I STARTED TO FEEL LIKE A HUMAN BEING AGAIN. ONCE THE LEXAPRO AND THE CLONAZEPAM KICKED IN I FELT SO MUCH BETTER. WHILE I GUESS CLONAZEPAM IS IN THE FAMILY WITH ATIVAN, VALIUM AND XANAX, IT HAS AN EXTREMELY LONG HALF-LIFE AND SUPPORTS YOUR ANXIETY ON A CONSTANT LEVEL CONTINUOUSLY. WITH XANAX YOU HAVE TO TAKE ONE MAYBE THREE OR FOUR TIMES A DAY. THERE ARE NO UPS AND DOWNS WITH CLONASEPAM. I AM LEVEL, HAVE GOOD REACTIONS AND FEEL BETTER THAN I HAVE EVER FELT IN MY 34 YEARS OF ANXIETY. IF I HAVE AN IMPORTANT APPOINTMENT REQUIRING ACUTE MENTAL ACUITY IN A DAY OR SO I CUT BACK OF .5 MG TWICE DAILY. THIS DRUG SURE MADE ME A NEW PERSON. I HAVE DONE AWAY WITH THE LEXAPRO NOW ALTOGETHER.  1  Anxiety and Depression Listen up people. If you begin this drug, your life will Never Be The Same Ever. Even as you develop Tolerance and Tolerance Withdrawal, the suffering you endure will be Unfathomable. You likely will Suffer Permanent Neurological Damage which can include Tinnitus and Permanent Worse Anxiety and Severe Depression, even Decades After Stopping. To say nothing of being nonfunctional for a decade or more, at a minimum. Just Don't. I lost Everything and don't know if I Can Even Go On. Consider this as possible the only Serious Warning, because You Will Never Be Told The Truth About These Drugs By Any Provider. The reason they won't warn you is because if they didn't prescribe this Poison is that They Would Have No Income If They Didn't!! Simple As That. If you want a future, don't take even one pill. Use Magnesium to effectively relieve anxiety.Take large doses of magnesium for anxiety it works for panic too. I used to have a life before these drugs. It is probably too late for me to rebuild what I lost, Virtually Everything I Ever Had. I will mourn everything I lost, including Myself, til the day I die. It appears we can't hold any of them legally liable due to a Supreme Court decision regarding patients c. ?2011. F 66 0 days
