About an hour after going to bed I woke up, dripping in sweat, with the worst stomach pains I've ever experienced and an aching lower back - I couldn't stand up straight so virtually crawled out of bed to go to the bathroom. I tried everything...going to the toilet, eating, drinking water, trying to make myself sick etc etc but nothing helped. I cant even put into words how bad the pain was but I honestly thought something major was happening to me. I've taken erythromycin before and been perfectly ok and my doctor made no mention of the side effects so I didn't know what was happening! Anyway, I was up for the full night - lying down only made it worse and i couldn't stay in the same position for more than a minute! I was beginning to think about a visit to A&E when I started looking at symptoms on the web and found this page - so reassuring to know its the side effects of the drug and I'm not dying lol but, at the same time, quite disturbing that an antibiotic can cause such a severe reaction in so many people! I was reluctant to come off the medication at first as my tonsilitis had been really bad and was just starting to clear up but today the cramps and stomach pain started again plus diarrhoea. I've also had massive hunger pangs but as soon as I start to eat anything I feel nauseous and cant finish it.
