2 | OAB | Blurry vision (3 - 5' range), severe dry mouth, thinning hair, bad taste in mouth, dry eyes, don't perspire, some confusion. Mostly worried about my vision, which was compromised before the med...and also the confusion. Want off this stuff. Will tolerate it a few more weeks, when I see specialist again. Physiotherapy doesn't help either. | Was on Detrol first but didn't help at all. Only one side effect of dry mouth with that med. Then saw specialist who switched me to Vesicare. Helps...a little. Side effects nasty. Worst side effect now gone....that is constipation and intense abdominal pain. Had to tolerate that for 3 weeks, before it went away. Hopefully specialist has a third option I can try. Otherwise, I will just live with it rather than be on med. | F | 51 | 3.5 months 10mg 1X day | 7/6/2015 | 4 | Bladder spasms and frequent urine | Constipation was really bad, and some dizziness. | I would try it again because it really helped with the spasms and having to go a lot. I could go out to eat or shop and not have to go to the bathroom like I normally would - once or twice. | F | 38 | 4 months | 4/3/2009 | 3 | DSD from Multiple Sclerosis | It snook up on me, first brilliant, then constipation of epic proportions for which I needed weekly enemas, Blurred vision gradually worsening, and then headaches started after 3 months. | I wish this had worked. As the side effects got worse the efficacy of the drug reduced. I had some major incontinent episodes. Constipation that stopped me wanting to eat because of nausea, and vomiting.Blurred vision that changed my glass prescription significantly, dry mouth - drank so much water all the time, but the headaches which started last month are too much to bear, so I am having Botox next week. | F | 46 | 4 months 5mg 1X day | 6/17/2016 | 1 | OAB | Bad memory & decision-making + URTICARIA = really itchy spots for 10 weeks! | (Age 40, no children) I started taking Vesicare in April and it helped with the urgency after years of struggling, but in September, I started noticing bad memory and bad decision-making + an onslaught of incredibly itchy wheals - red raised extremely itchy pea-sized spots on arms, chest & back. Stopped taking Vesicare immediately, but symptoms continue until now - December! I get about 5 new itchy spots per day, driving me crazy. Was prescribed strong ANTI-HISTAMINES in November, but that seems to have made URGENCY SUDDENLY WORSE, now having to wear incontinence pads, but nothing is bringing down the spots, still new ones appearing and lasting for average 5 days, extremely itchy, and leaving scars, even though I'm really trying not to scratch them. (Finally found a homeopathic tincture that works really well to immediately calm the itch, called "Anti Bite"!) even though most people don't think they are bites. Been to 4 GPs, had lots of blood tests including auto-immune tests, all came back normal, no-one seems to know what it is! So I forked out £150 for a private Dermatologist (as I am due to travel to India for 6 weeks later in December and needed to know if I was safe to go!) - he tested me for House Dust Mites and I came up seriously positive for that, so he concluded it was that, and called it Urticaria, but couldn't identify what triggered it - so I had thought it's the build-up of Vesicare solifenacin - and yet it hasn't abated in 3 months since | F | 40 | 5 months 5 1X day | 12/4/2016 | 1 | Bladder control | Horrible headaches. Severe eye pain. Double vision & blurry vision, night blindness by headlights and any lights. BAD MEDICATION! | After months of thinking my eyes were getting bad and going to the eye dr & a sinus dr - - I finally heard a bit on a commercial about it affecting eyes & causing headaches - - I recalled the dr saying possible side effects are glaucoma, eye pressure, eye pain... at the time I wondered what eye pressure & eye pain could feel like... it took me a while to figure out that is what it was. Since there are VERY LIMITED reviews/ patients on this medication there's not much info out there on it. It was a horrible medication! (It helped with slow bladder leak but didn't control sneezing/coughing bladder issues. I liked what it did help - - but I'd rather SEE & pee than take this med - LOL). I quit taking it 5 days ago & still have headaches & eye pain - the blurred vision and double vision went away within 2 days... anyone else?????? | F | 42 | 5 months 5 mg 1X day | 3/2/2010 | 1 | Overactive bladder | Hair loss dry throat dementia like symptoms | F | 65 | 6 months 5mg | 1/31/2020 | 5 | Interstitial cystitis | None and it stopped the symptoms of bladder infect I was having almost constantly. | I think it is great | F | 69 | 8 months 5 mg 1X day | 1/23/2015 | 1 | Overactive blader | It helped BUT I stopped taking it after coming across a researches study that Vesicare builds up in the body & can lead to major memory impairment that appears to be irreversible. Then I looked at all the foods labels I had been buying & found they were loaded with salt. Reduced my salt intake to more more than 1,000 mg per day. Frequency now under control. You can add Benbedryl to your list of drugs that build up in the body and acerbate memory loss. Big Pharma won't tell you this stuff, & your doctor probably doesn't know about the dangers. | F | 55 | 8 months 10 2X day | 2/20/2015 | 3 | Overactive Bladder - occasional | Very bad nightmares each time I took it. | It really helped with overactive bladder. I take Vesicare as needed so altogether I have taken approx 25 pills over the last 6-9 months. | F | 40 | 9 months | 7/11/2009 | 3 | Overactive bladder | Severe dry mouth and sour taste, eating is no longer a pleasure | Helped with frequency but still had odd night where I could be up 3 or 4 times | F | 60 | 10 months 5mg | 3/25/2020 | 1 | OAB | I had a few initial side effects which wore off except the dry mouth which was horrible | This drug worked great for me but after my urogyn took me off due to concerns about effects on memory like dementia | F | 47 | 12 months 5mg | 10/3/2018 | 4 | Bladder leakage | Dry mouth, hair thinning and loss/ memory loss? | Have been taking this for 1 yr daily. At 62, not certain if symptoms are as a result of the med or age. Forgetfulness, trouble with words. Worse is am losing my hair rapidly and the dry mouth. Notice also that my taste is impaired. Have lost appetite as well provably due to taste decreased. But no one else expressed this. I may take it upon myself to reduce from every day to every other day. | F | 62 | 1 years 5 mg 1X day | 12/6/2014 | 3 | Because I wanted to go to toilet frequently | Dry mouth. At times it worked then all of a sudden did the opposite and started again with over active bowel | 1 years 5 mg | 12/27/2015 | 1 | Overactive Bladder | I went on Vesicare because I was going to the bathroom 12-18 times a day. It did elevate that issue. I started stumbling over words, grasping for thoughts & I had hair loss. I had no idea that Vesicare was linked to memory loss until today. I also developed pelvic floor weakness. I will not continue to take this medicine & I plan to make a report to the FDA. | All bladder control drugs can have memory loss. Please research any medicine your doctor prescribes to you. I didn't realize that this could happen to me. | F | 45 | 1 years 5 MG 1X day | 4/8/2015 | 5 | bladder spasms | Just takes a long time to pee. I feel like I am sitting on the toilet for hours. | I really like to way it works. I don't have to run to the toilet every 30 minutes. It also took away the spasms I was having in my bladder. I have IBS so I guess bladder spasms go with the IBS. I really like it when I go places like shopping, eating out because I don't have to go as much. I used to hate that. I had to be near a bathroom no matter where I went. | 40 | 2 years 5 mg 1X day | 11/29/2010 | 5 | over active bladder | None... It has worked very well for me | F | 26 | 2 years 10mg | 8/26/2012 | 3 | obs | Lost 75% of my hair before figuring out this was causing it. | F | 54 | 2 years 10mg 1X day | 9/24/2022 | 1 | Overactive bladder | Serious confusion, also dry mouth & blurred vision. Helped some with OAB but not much | I am now taking a naturopathic remedy based on pumpkin seeds called Azo Helps in a very mild, gentle sort of way. No noticeable side effects. | F | 64 | 2 years | 8/13/2015 | 5 | OAB, urgency | Really none if taken with food | It is the best drug that I have tried for the pesky need to urinate suddenly and immediately. (Others were: Detrol LA, and oxybutinine (or something like that) Both did not help at all and I could not hold my pee. Vesicare is extremely helpful and has not lost its effectiveness like the Detrol did after about a year. | F | 47 | 3 years | 10/7/2015 | 4 | Overactive bladder, nocturia | Mild nausea, low mood, blurry vision | It took a few weeks for my body to get used to this drug. I find taking it before bed is best time. Definitely helps in that I take less trips to loo during night and day. Still get leakages when sneezing / coughing sometimes. Overall, drug has been worth taking. Currently contemplating come off for a while as nausea an issue, what with still having to work. | F | 61 | 3 years 5mg od | 3/14/2015 |
