5  ADD When I first started on this medication, I had a hard time for a couple of days dealing with anxiety like symptoms. (heart racing, manic sorts of feelings, the need to "go go go!") But after about a week I was feeling soo much better Every medication has a different effect on each individual, and they always take a bit of time to get used to. For me, this med has been a life saver, it's made things so much easier for me. If your doctor has mentioned this med, take the ratings you see here for face value. Not every drug will work for every person, and if its not for you, you can stop taking it. F 19 6 months

5  ADHD Cold and/or sweaty extremities. Loss of appetite. Trouble sleeping. Trouble staying hard during sex. I have been taking concerta fror 11 years and have gone through numerous dosage changes and even stopped and restarted the drug. From my experience this drug works well to increase concentration, focus, and attention. Helps me do one thing at a time without jumping from task to task. Slso this supresses my appetite which has helped me maintain normal weight. M 19 10 years

5  ADHD Slow weight gain, but helps control weight. Loss of appetite while the medicine is working. Difficult to sleep at night sometimes if I didnt take the medicine early in the morning. Wake up in the middle of the night because my body needs food and nutrition that it is not getting during the day because of the medicine. Keeps me positive, focused, and level-headed. I love this medicine. I have been taking it for 8 years and now, even as an adult, I do not wish to stop taking it. The days that I don't take it I feel depressed and unfocused and I eat constantly. The medicine helps me to stay concentrated. I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA. I am doing great in college and have high expectations for the future. I know that without this medicine, I would have dropped out of college by now and would have never made it this far. F 19 8 years

5  ADHD Extreme anxiety, and panic attacks, GAD, trouble with maintaining healthy weight index. PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DEPENDENCE, INABILITY TO DRAW OFF i was a very weird child, failing in more areas than life aside from school, after several years of very expensive and unsuccessful psychoterapy options, i was placed on concerta 54mg, my grades shot up, and i was the star student. It changed my life completely. Now its 11 years later, and i will be starting college soon, i am trying to take myself off of it, because if i miss a day i am a monster, cant even cross a street safely, however with proper support and physician observation, i hope to be tapered off concerta completely in 12 months!!!!!!!!! i have made a lifechoice, maybe life will be better, and i will be able to focus more without concerta if taken off of it properly M 19 8 years

5  To treat ADD Racing Heart, Nervousness, Dizziness, Confusion, BUT these symptoms only persist for about 4 days after I start taking Concerta. After that it all levels out and I feel great. This drug sucks for the first few days after you take it, but after that it's wonderful; you feel great and you can concentrate on things easily for hours. Once you start taking it though, try to avoid breaks in dosages, because then when you start taking it again you'll have to go through all the symptoms you did when you first started taking it all over again.  5  ADHD Heart palpatations, dizziness, weight loss, shortness of breath, extreme sleepiness upon withdrawal, as well as extreme hunger. Most of these symptoms subsided after my body got used to it. I tried straterra, to do the non-amphetamine treatment, but it tore my stomach to shreds, made me puke all day and made me feel like I wanted to kill myself. I actually hid those pills from my mom to make her believe i'd taken them. Once she found out about all of this stuff, I was put on concerta and have been doing well since then. My extremely low GPA (in high school) came up to a 3.8, I was more social, a little more anxious, made better eye contact and it improved my life overall. F 19 4 years

5  education Increased heart rate, increased libido, increased aggression, increased speed of thought, decreased precision of thought, ridiculously narrow focus on task at hand so oblivous to anything else, paranoia/increased perception of danger, insomnia, increased social cue perception. Difficult tasks seem easy since a lot of energy is at your disposal, however, you need to master yourself first, get used to this phyche change, aggression can change to moodiness and depression if it isn't applied constructively to the task at hand, therefore I don't advise you to use this drug when you want to relax.  5  ADD headache, slight nausea when starting out Concerta changed my life. I feel so in control of everything i do. I have got lots of energy now, both physical and mental. Everything that was so hard is now easy. Efforts (in any way) are finally rewarded. M 19 60 days

5  Adult AD/HD (Initially and following any changes in medication) Mild headache and nausea, decreased appetite I began getting severe headaches when my medication was changed (I have a history of migraines), but I have had it changed back and am no longer experiencing any negative side-effects. I take 36mg twice a day and my ability to control my thoughts has improved dramatically. I thought it would change who I was initially, but with the correct dosage it only gives me the ability to do the things I want to. I have no problems with sleeping (I used to drink coffee and coke to relax myself). F 19 3 months

4  ADD Weight loss. Ability to focus more. HEADACHES! Sweaty palms/feet. I can go the entire day eating normally, but at night, when it wears off, I am incredibly hungry! My palms and feet sweat quite a bit as well. I noticed an increase in my headaches, too. However, the fact that I was able to focus and stay alert and centered during classes was a tremendous help and makes every negative side effect I have experienced worth it! F 19 3 years

4  ADHD Headaches, Loss of Appetite, and Weight Loss I'm on 72 MG for concerta. Before i started taking this medicine I could never sit down and study for an extended period of time. School was never my thing. I just couldn't do it. I've only been taking this medicine for a few weeks but my grades are getting better I am getting great scores on my exams. I feel like things are going just right. The only problem I worry about is not eating a good meal but to fix that I usually just have a snack in between here and there. M 19 9 weeks

I have problems staying focused but when i take it I am very focused and efficient with what i need to do. M 19 6 years

4  ADD loss of apetite but then binge eating after it wears off late at night, slower reaction time while driving (keeps me from speeding tho), when I tried 36mg experiences sever dehydration, teeth clenching, wiggling around wanted to constantly on the "go", very energetic. at 27mg helps me concentrate better, although when I panic I think it makes it work so I take this with Celexa (anti depressant) Risperdone (anti pyschotic) and Klonopin (anti anxiety) so I think everything evens things out. I think this helps alot. I used to be a speed demon on the road and now unless I'm irritable or in ahurry, I don't speed as much. My apetite is less which is good BUT then I binge eat once it wears off. Higher dosages made me very fidgety and this with caffeine at night is a no no (stayed up all night), but during the day I don't notice a difference. F 19 2 months
