| 3 | I have been taking yasmin for almost 6 years and cannot believe that only ow I am putting 2 and 2 together. At first I thought it was great, I went on Yasmin to control heavy periods and clots and because it was said to prevent weight gain and water retention. Over the past 2 years or so, maybe longer, I don't know, I have been suffering from extreme depression, lack of confidence, vaginal dryness, lack of sex drive, bloating, mood swings, tiredness, insomnia. I have noticed over the past yr or so that I am often bloated for no reason. I eat healhtily, visit the gym quite a bit and drink litres of water yet I am often bloated for weeks at a time. My boobs have shot up to a 32 DD and constantly feel swollen. I feel that I am wasting my time with all this healthy eating/fitness when I have not lost as much as a pound. Because of this I have no interest in anything, men, clothes, shopping, basically I have no self worth whatsoever. The pamphlets that come with the pills say that you could experience nautiousness for the first 3 months, so I want to do my best to stick it out and see what happens after. I had pretty severe PCOS and I no longer have to deal with the abnominal pain. The weight gain levels off and it was pretty easy for me to loose the seven pounds I gained. I'm only nauseous now when I forget a pill and have to take two the next day. My skin is clear and I don't have hot flashes. It's not perfect, but I've been on others and this one is definately worth it for me. In the beginning it really helped with my mood swings and I was not as emotional come time for my period, however, I have completely lost my sex drive!! I did not know what the reason was at the time (I thought it was a lack of interest in my boyfriend) but once we broke up and I realized that the sex drive was still not there, I decided to come off of it. I just started on Loestrin... we will see how it goes and I will follow up. As for the Good: After about three or four months of taking this as directed, my face rarely ever broke out at all. I also had moderate acne on my back that went away (almost all the way) for the first time in about four years. It also protected against pregnancy as it is supposed to do. On the Fence: I say that I am on the fence about weight loss because I don't want people to go rushing to take this pill because of it's potential ability to shed pounds. I was a healthy 124 and over the course of the last year I have went down to about 113 on average. I was not looking to lose weight, and friends and family became concerned about my weight loss. I wasn't eating as much not because I was on an extreme diet but because the pill physically made me not as hungry. I've been off Yasmin for about a month and a half and the weight is creeping on. This may be due to another medication I am on, however, which can cause weight gain. My moods are more stable. I switced because 7 months into trinorinyl i was breaking out really bad. Yasmin has helped with the breakouts. One thing i noticed is that i feel very out of place, and sometimes depressed. I am usually a happy energetic person, but this pill has made me sluggish, and its hard for me to concentrate at school. not to mention, sometimes my i feel my heart beating alittle fast. I think 3 months is a good trial period for birth control. The thing is, I'm thinking of quitting altogether because the depression is screwing up my life. When I got on Yaz I was so satisfied because my skin cleared up immediately. But not until a few months later did I start realizing that I had abslolutely no sex drive and had put on a few pounds. I am normally a very sexual/easily arroused person and I have a very sexy boyfriend who is very into me but it is just so hard to get arroused on this contraceptive. After being off yasmin for seven months, lots of my hair has fallen out, I've had random heart palpitations, and pms is bad again.
