3 | Asthma | I was on this drug for 18 years. Never had any side effects until the last two years. I had tremors for 2-3 years and doctors weren't sure why. Finally, last year, my doctor and I deduced that it might be from Singulair. I decided to stop taking this medication after being on it for 18 years. Within a few days, my tremors subsided. I have been off Singulair for a year now and I haven't had any tremors ever since. It is very strange that after 18 years, I developed tremors from this medication. | F | 26 | 18 years 10 mg 1X day | 10/19/2017 | 4 | asthma | Had headaches at first but after about 5 days they went away Sinus inflammation | Regular use of singulair keeps me from having to use my rescue inhaler as often. It reduces my lungs' reaction to triggers that usually bring on an asthma attack. I do think it causes my sinuses to be slightly inflamed most of the time but it's a good trade-off. | 64 | 10 years 10 1X day | 10/11/2017 | 2 | asthma | cramping and pain in lower back | This medicine relieved my asthma symptoms but unfortunately while taking the medicine I experienced intense lower back pain and cramping. I went off the medicine; the pain went away. I tried the medicine again and the pain came back so I stopped taking it altogether. I'm sad about it because it clearly relieves the asthma symptoms. | F | 68 | 14 days 10 mg 1X day | 8/13/2017 | 1 | Allergies/Asthma | My son started taking singulair when he was very young. I took him off of it for a while but his asthma flared up. He started back on it and he began to get depressed, moody, and was waking up hearing screams. He also heard someone calling his name and said he felt something touching him. He had anxiety and didnt understand what was happening to him. I spoke to his Dr. and they said to keep giving it to him. Thank goodness I didn't listen He has been off of it about one month and the side effects have decreased but aren't completely gone. I would never use this med It needs to be off the market. | M | 16 | 0 years 10mg | 6/18/2017 | 1 | Asthma | Unable to sleep. lay awake on bed, drifting, vivid dreams and nightmares | I have difficult to treat asthma- mostly because I'm allergic to most medications. The doctors decided to try me on the child's dose. My first dose, taking in the morning, allowed me to sleep at night somewhat but gave me horrible dreams. Dreams that had my heart racing and awakening from my bed scared. When I took it at night, as suggested for Asthmatics, I never slept. I got about 3 hours of sleep last night, due to this medication keeping me awake. It did however help me with my asthma... | F | 45 | 1 days 5 1X day | 6/1/2017 | 1 | Asthma and Allergies | Increased allergy attacks, morning asthma, mood swings, weight gain. | I started taking singular when I was a child around the age of 6-9. When I was younger I would tell my mom about my symptoms and she would tell me that it wasn't the singular and I had to keep taking it. Eventually my doctor wrote a new prescription and I didn't tell my mom about it because I hated taking it. Recently I started taking it again, I've been on it for about a week and all my symptoms have come back plus weight gain. I thought I would give it another try but I think I'm going off it again. This is a horrible drug and no child should ever be forced to take it. | F | 18 | 3 years | 5/17/2017 | 2 | Allergies | My allergies have left me feeling fatigued and congested. I have also experienced sinus pressure, sweats, feeling feverish - but without an actual fever. My throat has been continually sore and nothing has relieved it yet. I typically take Allegra in the morning, Zyrtec at night and Flonase two times a day (morning and night). I started Singulair based on my doctor's recommendation that I may need a medication stronger than what I have been taking. I have been taking Singulair for 3 days now. Day 1 was okay; I did not notice or experience any side effects. On day 2, I started to experience nausea and abdominal cramping. When I looked at the side effects information that was printed out for me by the pharmacist, I did not see these side effects listed. Speaking with a nurse at the doctor's office, I was also told these were not side effects of the medication. Not even listed as an uncommon side effect. I was told this medication just does not provide these side effects. However, with | F | 33 | 3 days 10 MG 1X day | 4/17/2017 | 1 | Allergies & Sinus Infections | Numbness all over body, especially arms, hands & throat @ night. Dry mouth and difficulty swallowing.Neck pain & stiffness. Chest pain & heart palpitations. Sore burning pain in arms, shoulders & back. Difficulty breathing. Weakness & Fatigue. Lightheaded & Foggy brain. I actually felt like this medication was causing me to have asthma attacks. | It did help with my allergies & even my psoriasis. However, I'll deal with any of these symptoms every day of the week before the side effects from this medication. | F | 53 | 2 months 10 MG 1X day | 4/2/2017 | 1 | Asthma | My 5 year old daughter was prescribed singular for Asthma. The day after she began taking t she began urinating every 5 to 10 minutes. Talks constantly about having a broken leg and wanting to have a baby. We didn't know this is what was causing these problems. She took it for 14 days and all these problems are still going on. It should be banned for children under 18 years old. My daughter needs a detox it has been 4 days since we ended the Singulair. Praying there are no long time problems. | I reported to the FDA but what will they do? Ended the relationship with that allergist, very unsafe. | F | 5 | 10 days 4mg | 3/11/2017 | 3 | Allergies asthma | Worked great for allergies and asthma...felt like I had something crawling on my skin all the time | F | 43 | 3 days 10 | 2/26/2017 | 5 | Asthma | Allergy testing came back negative but when I kept having cold weather induced asthma my doctor wanted me to try this. I'm already on symbicort & was doing good except cold weather. Well, the montelukestat helped it completely. We had a very cold winter this year & I was totally fine outdoors. Also I don't have any of the side effects some people mentioned, I feel great!!! | F | 45 | 9 months 10 mg | 2/19/2017 | 3 | Allergies, Asthma | Arrhythmia's. When I first started taking this medication, I got anxiety and major depression. But I hated all the inhalers I had to take so I pushed through it and the depression and anxiety went away. I have gotten arrhythmia (irregular heart beat / palpitations) from other medications like Prednisone and some antibiotics. I've been to the ER several times this past year for palpitations, each time my blood work came back ok. The last time I went to the E.R. for palpitations was almost 2 months ago but I was just coming off of an antibiotic, I assumed it was from that and waited for it to pass. Well, it's not passing and the only other medication I'm taking that isn't something I've been on for years is Montelukast. All I'm taking every day are my usual vitamins, magnesium and maintenance inhaler "Qvar"....and Montelukast. I hate to go off of it, but I don't want to risk my heart having problems. We'll see if the arrhythmia stops after stopping this drug. | F | 49 | 13 months 10mg 1X day | 2/12/2017 | 3 | Allergic rhinitis | After 3 days, although my allergy symptoms had completely subsided, I started experiencing nausea around the clock. Then came the anxiety and ocd symptoms. On the 9th day I felt the most terrifying racing heart and palpitations. And on day ten my mind was racing so much I felt like I should be committed. I will never take it again. | It DID help reduce my allergy symptoms significantly, along with Flonase and Claritin. | F | 31 | 10 days 10MG | 2/10/2017 | 1 | Allergies and Asthma | Dizziness, very tired, headaches, sore throat, upset stomach, painful tummy, indigestion, mood swings, forgetfulness, mood swings, rash, depression. | Highly dissatisfied. I do not recommend. I suffer exercise and allergy induced asthma. I was using a rescue inhaler daily so my doctor suggested trying Singulair daily for 3 months. I've taken it for 25 days and will never again. I'm normally a very together, upbeat, organized person. I've had so many side effects in so many directions I'm in complete despair and kicking myself for taking the med so long. I had such "wuzzy brain" I thought I was pregnant. My inability to focus and function has been greatly impaired this month to the point of severely hurting my life. I fear I've permanently hurt my body with this drug. | F | 48 | 25 days 10 MG 1X day | 12/17/2016 | 1 | Possible Asthma | Insane weight gain, I'm in the military and have to sustain a strict physical fitness and this is not possible while on Singulair, gained 12 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks, absolutely ridiculous. Also experienced gastrointestinal distress and bizarre dreams. | M | 26 | 18 days 10 MG 1X day | 12/6/2016 | 1 | Asthma | Gave one dose to my 3 year boy. He could not sleep the whole night and complained about flu like symptoms. Ear pain, slight fever and tummy ache were most notable and also is listed as common side effects. Heart was accelerated and he complained of strange dreams. All from one dose!!! This is a 3 year old that sleeps a solid 10 hours a night with no issues. This stuff is poison. Glad we found out after only one dose. I feel terrible for those who suffered long term issues from long term use of this drug. | We immediately discontinued the drug and learned a valuable lesson. We even asked the doctor about "notable side effects" and he said "there are none". No more trusting this pediatrician (we thought he was one of the good ones) !! | M | 3 | 1 days 5mg | 12/4/2016 | 1 | Asthma | My son suffered severely on Singulair, intense stomach pain with vomiting, exhaustion, anxiety, paranoia, agitation, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempt, fleeing behaviour, nose bleeds, memory issues, set off intolerance to artificial additives, leg pain, OCD, long bouts of crying 1.5 hrs, nightmares, concentration issues. Recovery has been very slow. Long term side effects and withdrawal were observed. | We have a Montelukast (Singulair) side effects support & discussion group if you are interested https://www.facebook.com/groups/40378158644/ | M | 5 | 3 years 4mg | 11/16/2016 | 1 | Asthma | Experienced mood swings and periods of depression. Don't know how much has to do with the drug. It sort of knocks you out at night. | I believe the drug has harmful side effects not totally told to consumers. | M | 57 | 10 months 10mg | 10/29/2016 | 3 | Asthma | Only been taking this for 6 weeks. After about 5 weeks it shifted my sleep patterns by 3 hours earlier. For years I would go to bed at 2330 and wake up at 0915. Now I am in bed at 2030 and wide awake by 0630. This is not necessarily a bad thing except my dreams seem to be more vivid and unusual. Seems to be an uptick in libido which is consistent with others reporting emotional and hormonal issues. | It helped my asthma somewhat. Prescribed by the VA--I am a veteran. I am appreciative of this site for the user information submitted. | M | 68 | 6 weeks 10 1X day | 10/10/2016 | 1 | Asthma | Over time I was experiencing all of the bad side effects/ mood swings/ changes in personality/ thoughts of suicide/ weight gain/ tremors | F | 48 | 10 years one pill 1X day | 9/21/2016 |
