It worked for 2 months, and was ok, but I've got very lost memory at a time after 1 month. After 2 and half months I unfortunately relapse. My doctor only liked low doses. My doctor Think low doses is good at all the preparation. Actually she was wrong, on geodon, higher doses are reguallary required. But in late august I succeeded with an 40 mg package and took up to 160 mg over one day. I took Always with meal but with lunch time and dinner time later on the day. After every dosage I have to run to the bed, otherwise I would fall asleep when standing up. But I always managed to bed. Zeldox was an pure sleep medicine at the 160 mg dose. It had much better antipsychotic effect on 160 mg but it was not enough to fully remove may psychosis fully, but it helped a lot still. But my docotor discovered this and gave me only 20-40 mg again and then it was disaster, I've got Heavy psychosis and it does not helped anything at this low doses. I contacted doctor about to take Another antipsychotic by replace geodon finally but my doctor waited to long with meeting. I was close to suicide. I was hospitalized and been here for long, now I'm standing on haldol. If I would began geodon again then I must begin with an high dose already from the beginning next time. The low dose was not enough and the psychosis I've got then was Heavy. After doing research, I'm not really sure why he was prescribed this drug other than he's allergic to Morphine (for pain) and morphine derivatives and Ativan (anti-anxiety). In any case, his was a horrible experience and I would recommend staying away from this drug at all costs. Doc cut me down to 10 mg Lexapro and put me on 60 mg of Geodon. After 5 days (when I had a super-big bout of mania), he cut Lexapro completely and bumped up to 160 mg of Geodon. The very night I started the increased dose, I was able to have the best night sleep in a long time. I haven't had any mania symptoms (or depression for that matter) and have been sleeping 8-ish hours per night, waking up refreshed and not needing a nap at all (used to not sleep at night and have to take nap during day). I've already been feeling "normal" and balanced. I feel good, but not manic-good, and feel at peace for the first time in a long, long time. I'm so grateful for this medication. I was scared by comments from others who had bad reactions, but I'm personally doing great and am happy to have been introduced to this drug. My Dr. gave it to me as a way to help me sleep. I take 120 mgs at night. Takes a bit for me to fall asleep, but once I'm there, I'm good. I did have a terrible dream and when I closed my eyes I couldn't get the picture out of my mind, but that's it. Dr. just increased my dosage to 180 mgs, to help me get to sleep faster.. so we'll see how it goes. I've lost almost 20 lbs and my Dr. says to expect to continue that. I told my doctor I had to change meds and he put me on Geodon, 20mg in morning and 20 mgs at night a year and a half ago. The weight gain immediately stopped and I was in a much better and happier mood then I ever was on the Zyprexa. I have been taking it since April 2006 and I am just thrilled with it. I started on Weight Watchers to lose the weight I gained on Zyprexa and I've been able to lose 40 lbs of it since January. Geodon has been a life saver for me. My paranoia and depression are gone and I haven't had a psychotic episode since 2002 (had it for six months--it was a one time thing that lasted six months until the Zyprexa brought me out of it). GEODON (ZIPRASIDONE HYDROCHLORIDE): Ziprasidone injection is used to treat occurrences of severe agitation in patients with schizophrenia. It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain. Ziprasidone injection is used when quick relief of your symptoms is required. It is not used together with the form of this medication that is taken by mouth. An injection of ziprasidone works quickly to reduce tension and anxiety which, if untreated, can result in dangerous behavior and interfere with your treatment and care.
