| 5 | Increased focus and productivity | nothing | My experience with Modafinil is that it's a "fascination pill". Whatever you're doing when it kicks in, you'll suddenly be absorbed and fascinated in doing that. So happy I've got it, thanks to 'Uniso2slp'. I once made the mistake of doing some online shopping while I waited for it to kick in. Four hours later I'd scoured the internet for the best deal on the items I was looking for, including comparing shipping costs and doing a rough table of average shipping costs by item or by dollar spent, seperated out into different scenarios depending on how many of the items I was looking at I decided to buy. I was narrowing it down by cents and was deeply fascinated by the process and deeply motivated to "win" the game I'd set myself. So beware of procastination activities while you wait for it to kick in. My recommendation is to "procrastinate" on something related to what you're doing, like say the proofreading or formatting or even the font of the document you're wanting to work on - then it should be easier to shift yourself over to the substance of the document. | M | 29 | 3 months 100mg 1X day | 11/7/2022 | 5 | MS mental fatigue | Maybe some nervous tics- chewing cuticles, scratching scalp, jaw clenching, but not even sure they're caused by the drug.. | Life-changing. Those side effects faded and I have never had an issue with them again even going off and back on the drug. I talk a little fast which might be a side effect but could be normal. | This drug is amazing for me. I am not jittery, I am not sleepy. I can stop taking it any time I want to and will skip doses when I am sick so I can sleep more. After careful discussion with my doctor I chose to continue taking it through my pregnancy and my son is perfectly healthy (I am not recommending this for everyone, just offering the data since there is almost no information out there. I would love to contribute my data to any research being done on this.). I used ritalin while breastfeeding and prefer provigil because I had no side effects with it. My biggest complaint is fighting my insurance every year. The prior-authorization required for a drug I have been on for 10 years is insane and they mis-process the authorization all the time which leaves me rationing my pills and stressing out and calling everyone trying to find out who messed up. Prozac had got me out of the worst of a depressive episode, but I still felt flat and with a mood that was always just below normal. Modafinil made me feel slightly high, properly awake, and very motivated. In other words, it really worked for the depression, and there were no scary side effects - no mania, no anxiety, no risktaking behaviour, no agitation, no raised heartbeat or any 'speedy' effects. Also there was no sharp comedown - the effects just gradually wear off. The only negative effect a mild headache on two occasions and one paracetamol solved it. It makes you feel more mentally alert, but I did not notice any increase in physical energy. The effect started within half an hour of taking 100mg and reached a peak about 2 hours later. The effects last for at least 12 hours, so don't take it late in the day if you want to sleep. I took 200mg once and the effects were just a bit more intense and lasted at least 15 hours. After it wears off, appetite and sleep return to normal, and the next morning I felt normal. I don't take it every day, just when I feel I need it. I have not tried this when deeply depressed, only when I was coming out of a depression, so I can't say how it would work in that case. PROVIGIL (MODAFINIL): Modafinil reduces extreme sleepiness due to narcolepsy and other sleep disorders, such as periods of stopped breathing during sleep (obstructive sleep apnea). It is also used to help you stay awake during work hours if you have a work schedule that keeps you from having a normal sleep routine (shift work sleep disorder). This medication does not cure these sleep disorders and may not get rid of all your sleepiness. Modafinil does not take the place of getting enough sleep. It should not be used to treat tiredness or hold off sleep in people who do not have a sleep disorder. It is not known how modafinil works to keep you awake.
