| 5 | Osteoarthritis in lower back/knees | None! | Love it! my new best friend. I live in New York where I take the subway and city bus and put a lot of strain on my knees and back. Started takiing Aleve and I just love it! I can move around and about as if I'm 25 again (I'm 46)Remember! you're not suppose to take it longer than 10 Days! I don't take it every day, because I don't need it everyday. When the weather is bad, I take two at night and two in the morning. They gave me an injection of Benedryl and a steroid. Slowly, I returned to normal In 3 hours, I could walk without assistance. I will NEVER take Aleve again. However, about 12 years back, I had severe allergic reactions to aspirin and pain relievers (other than Tylenol) - hives all over my body, severe swelling, etc. My doctor told me that although I was experiencing allergic reactions to these medications that many times these reactions stop. This was the case for me. I can now take all medications without experiencing allergic symptoms (I discovered this through trial - not something that is probably the best idea). ALEVE (NAPROXEN SODIUM): Naproxen is used to relieve pain from various conditions. It also reduces pain, swelling, and joint stiffness caused by arthritis, bursitis, and gout attacks. This medication is known as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking your body's production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation. If you are treating a chronic condition such as arthritis, ask your doctor about non-drug treatments and/or using other medications to treat your pain. See also Warning section. Some brands of sustained-release naproxen take longer to be absorbed and are not recommended for pain that needs quick relief (such as during a gout attack).
