ALEVE  (NAPROXEN SODIUM):  Naproxen is used to relieve pain from various conditions. It also reduces pain, swelling, and joint stiffness caused by arthritis, bursitis, and gout attacks. This medication is known as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking your body's production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation. If you are treating a chronic condition such as arthritis, ask your doctor about non-drug treatments and/or using other medications to treat your pain. See also Warning section. Some brands of sustained-release naproxen take longer to be absorbed and are not recommended for pain that needs quick relief (such as during a gout attack). Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about your particular brand.   FDA Approval Date: 1994-01-11 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

5  Groin pull, knee pain I have had no side effects. It's been wonderful; long-lasting pain relief, no stomach nausea, no headaches, no noticeable side effects whatsoever. Started taking prescription dosage once a day for groin pull. Before last December, never heard of Naproxen. But after starting on it, I had to find the OTC version. I take it now, two tablets (220mg each)about four days a week, after I run, for knee pain (small meniscus tear)and I am so happy to have it. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen both cause minor, sometimes significant, side effects to my system. M 45 8 months

5  osteo arthritis+knee replacement su Really cuts the pain from my severe degenerative osteo arthritis. Beats the heck out of celebrex, or the other POISON drugs. No adverse reactions at this time. Will definitely continue the two per day. M 65 2 months

5  Headache No side effects at all. This drug has worked 100% of the time for my headaches. Very surprised to see all these low ratings. For me, Aleve is a "guarantee" med. Within 30 mins of me taking 2 Aleve, my headache has ALWAYS gone away versus taking 6 Tylenol for many hours. As far as other body aches and pains I don't know...but for headache there is nothing better. M 38 1 days

5  Sinus/Headache/Back Ache None, I have taken one almost everyday for the last two to three years. I take the cold and sinus version. It is Sudafed and Aleve combined. It works great for cold and sinus issues. M 33 3 years

5  Headaches, back pain None Aleve works great on head aches and back pain. I worked in a pharmacy for about 8 years and switched careers in 1995. Naproxyn (same as aleve) was prescription only back then and had been around for some time. Never heard of any side affects other than upset stomach which is common in NSAIDs. Was at work about 3 or 4 years ago and had a headache. I had never tried Aleve before but could not find anyone with Tylenol. A co-worker asked if I wanted to try Aleve so I did. Worked great and has ever since. I rarely get headaches but my back pain is a bit more frequent. It works awesome on both. I will never try anything else. M 40 3 years

5  Removal of planters warts on feet drowsiness, sleepiness; upset stomach, ongoing heartburn, reflux (if not taken with food) I cannot believe the effect this has had on the pain. This is my third returm visit for freeaing of planters warts and therefore have moderate to severe pain on the soles of my feet to the extent that my heels cannot touch the floor when I'm walking. Within an hour of taking this I can go to the gym and run miles. Amazing. Be sure to take with food, as recommended. I've taken this before for headache (it did not help) and did not take with food and have had a significant increase in heartburn since. M 32 2 days

5  aches and pains of age and work Have absolutly NO SIDE EFFECTS, this is the ONLY MEDICATION I have taken in the past 10 years. I don't really trust all the NEW? medicines that have come about in the past few years...Most of the trouble people have is mixing half a dozen different medications..But, with Aleve I just have one pain medicine AND NO COMPLICATIONS, TAKEN EVERY DAY FOR TEN YEARS.....  5  joint, muscle pain after exercise none used almost daily (to coincide w/exercise routine) w/o any side effects. didn't realize how well it worked until i stopped using it for a month. Advised not to use it before exercise so as to not mask pain from real injuries. M 40 7 years

5  Tendonitis, muscle pain, gout, etc. None at first, but after prolonged use GERD and general digestive problems. The product works for me extremely well - like nothing else prescribed or over the counter. All my various aches & pains mostly kept me awake at night, so I would take one at bedtime. After several months I found that I was taking one every night (still no problems). I had heard that prolonged usage could be a problem, but my doc said "No". Now (after about 5 mos nightly usage) he says it is what has kicked in my extreme chest pains - reflux (thought I was having a heart attack!) - and aggravated my long dormant IBS. So I say use it cautiously, watch out for the allergic reactions mentioned here, but even if you tolerate it, take a break from using it! M 53 6 months

5  back & joint pain none, i have no allergies to food or drugs. it appears on this site, most of the negative feed back are from people that have allergies to food/drugs which common sense tells me you will have reaction to most medicines presc. or o/counter drugs when taken. Your problem stems from your allergies not product. M 59 2 years

5  Migraine prevention None The only thing that will get rid of my migraines. I also take it the day before I get one. (I am psychic, just kidding!) I had to log my migraines so I could see when I get them. Luckily, they are predictable. Weird taking it when I don't have a headache, but it actually prevents the one I know I will get the next day.  5  Arthritus None I'm a medical corrier, and without Aleve, I can't walk. I take 2 in the morning, and 2 at mid day. Without it, the pain in my knees, and ankles would be so unbearable. M 55
