3  Seasonal Allergies Anxiety, more talkative, hyper, obstinant, defiant. My son was coughing all night long, had a stuffy nose, then it would let loose and the mucous would just drain so badly. He was barely sleeping. History has taught us that every allergy or asthma medicine makes him spastic and out of control. Flonase is the lesser of all evils. The first day we gave him Flonase he hardly coughed and got a full nights sleep, the first in weeks. Sadly within 3 days his dad & I noticed a change in his behavior. So did his teacher, since she sent an e-mail asking what was going on. I can tell within 20 minutes of spraying his nose his behavior escalates. We decided to halve the dose, instead of one spray in each nostril, we are doing one spray in one nostril, then alternate to the other nostril the next day. Tonight 10/24/09 is the first we've done this and I noticed his behavior did not get out of control like it would before. How crazy I thought, to notice a difference right away. So far he has not coughed one time. Usually by now he has several times. So if you like the allergy releif you see but don't like the side effects, I offer this as a possibility. M 6 5 days

3  Frequent Sinus and Ear Infections Shortness of breath, Dizziness, and I have passed out twice after exercising. I am a new user of Flonase, and my body is having a hard time adjusting. I find myself always dehydrated, and cannot do regualar exercises. Recently I worked out, and then could not catch my breath, stood up and then passed out and hit the floor. When I came to, my hands were clinched and numb. It was 30 minutes before I recovered enough to leave the gym. I am in great general health running in 5K and 10K races regularly for the past few years and never experienced any problems until I started on Flonase a few weeks ago. M 28 20 days

3  Nasal allergies After reading countless reviews on here of others side effects, I'd have to agree with the fact that flonase is very potent.I began this med back in November and noticed no immediate side effects. Until about a month in I began noticing an increase in my anxiety. My heart felt off like it wasn't beating normally. I begin to also experience dizzy spells and increased sinus pressure. Don't get me wrong this stuff works for what it claims it does and did clear me up. The side effects however are not worth it. I stopped taking it then gave it another shot and continued to experience the same side effects. It also makes me feel jumpy and foggy. I will never take this med again. M 29 6 months

3  Sinus/ear problems/couldn't hear vertigo, dizziness, and then on the seventh day I became extremely fatigued and stopped taking it. Also, this could be a total coincidence, but I developed a massive chalazion in my right eye while on this stuff I rated it a 3 because it DID help my ears. But wow - the side effects were pretty crazy. Use caution for sure and monitor yourself closely while taking this stuff. M 43 7 days

3  nasal congestion at night Extreme fatigue, muscle joint paint, muscle pain At 53 I often can out perform most 30 yrs olds and am always on the go from 5:30 AM to 11 PM. I must say that the Flonase made a difference in my nose not being congested at night. However; I started experiencing side effects. At first I was wanting to go to bed a couple hours earlier and thought I just was burning the candles at both ends too much. Then I started getting pain in the back between the shoulder blades and muscle and joint pain around the knees and had to take Tylenol just to sleep through the night and still woke up in pain. Now by 10 AM I'm ready for a nap and I have muscle pain and was taking Vitamin "B" energy shots to stay awake. I have to stop this med, perhaps at a lower dose it might work but not the way it is now. M 53 3 weeks

3  Extreme sinus congestion Headache, sharp pain in my head, tingling and numbness in my arms and legs, tightness in my chest, fatigue, dizziness, anxiety, and sudden panic attacks. Worked great, finally was able to breath for once. Shortly after the first month of taking this daily, I started to notice more and more health issues poping up out of nowhere. I went to the ER after having what I thought was a heart attack, but tests came back normal. After doing my own research, and thankfully finding this site, I stopped taking Flonase. It's been 3 days since my last dose, and I would say about 50% of all side effects have gone away. Still having dizziness and headaches, but hopefully the rest go away shortly. I would strongly suggest you pay attention to any changes while taking this drug, and stop immediately if you notice any side effects... Should not be OTC. M 39 2 months

3  Bronchitis (Post Nasal Drip) After several uses I developed a ridiculous (rash-free) itch that would even affect the very tips of my fingers. Not sure that it helped with my temporary condition. I actually needed to blow my nose semi-regularly after switching to it from Fexofenadine (which my Dr. claimed dried/thickened mucus). I was using the x2 per nostril dosage for the first 5 days, switched to x1 for the next 3 days then discontinued. The itching has, thus far (after 36 hours without it), continued to become worse. It may be some kind of interaction/complication with a short dose of Prednisone that overlapped it but the itch has continued a week beyond the last dose of Pred. M 40 8 days

3  I had some fluid behind one eardrum I started having a sore throat and mild headaches pretty much immediately after starting Fluticasone. I was also CONSTANTLY EXTREMELY TIRED. I've stopped taking the medication. I've taken Flonase before, but don't recall have these side effects. It's been 24 hours since I last took it and feel much better. I was told to put 2 sprays in each nostril once a day. M 63 10 days

3  Severe Allergies Excessive sweating and mild anxiety, severe dry mouth, and a constant runny nose. At first there were no side effects. After about 4 months, then slowly creeped in, but not nearly as severe as the people I see here on this thread. Overall, the med seems to be great if you only take it a few weeks for seasonal allergies. Outside of that, and this medication appears to have major side effects. M 42 9 months

3  Allergies It really helps me with allergies, sneezing, itchy eyes. Unfortunately, it also causes depression, irritability and may or may not be connected with some of my sleep issues i have been taking flonase daily in spring season when my allergies are the worst and whenever else is needed throughout year. This spring i figured since i haven't really been taking it for last few months ( i ran out ) that i'd reupp my usage for a week since allergies are really bad to 2 sprays in each nostril for a week as directions say when starting to use flonase. Well i suddenly felt horrible. I started to feel bad and negative about everything and super irritable which is a little unusual for me. So i wondered if there was any correlation. then i started googling it and realized your only suppopsed to be on this for short amounts of time and anything longer then 6 months should be consulted with a doctor. I stopped taking it for a week and took other allergy meds. I felt the weight kinda lift off me and i didn't feel so bad or irritable.. I was wondering if maybe it was placebo and so I recently took it again to see if maybe i was just overdoing it. so i took just 1 spray each nostril and sure enough i feel very irritable and not so good. Unfortunately, i think i'm done with it forever and i'm kinda bummed about that :-( M 30 2 years

3  Seasonal allergies Increased anxiety. I suffer from general anxiety disorder and am on medication for that disorder. Upon starting to take flonase, my anxiety increased daily until I ended up with my worst anxiety symptoms since I started anxiety medication 4 years ago. I stopped flonase and 48 hours later, all was back to normal. Beside that unfortunate side effect, Flonase did miracles for my allergies for those 3 days. M 46 3 days

3  Allergies I never take the time to write about products, but since I've been up all night again, I might as well. Since I've been taking it I've been exposed to a lot of allergens, my throat, nose, sinus' etc were really bothering me, so I gave it a try, my wife has some on hand for this time of year. I used it and immediately started having insomnia and rest leg. I would clear up, but I was up all night and day, it's pretty strong. Anyway that has been my experience, and I'm always thirsty. Could be a coincidence, but I don't think so. Hope this helps. By the way I stopped taking about 7 days after starting, symptoms haven't improved as far as the sleepless nights and etc goes, but I can breathe, that's nice. Probably works well for some. If you have no trouble falling asleep, I'd say give it a go, or if you are in bad shape and aren't getting sleep anyway, it's worth being up all night and able to breath, then stuffed up with cotton mouth all night. I can't sleep that great like that anyway. Hope this helps. M 35 7 days

3  Nasal congestion/eustachian tube dysfunction First couple of days, I was really tired after taking it, but that went away. After a month and a half, I developed serious gastritis/nausea/abdominal pain, daily tension headaches, constant anxiety and muscle tension, throat irritation, and daily pain in my right eye. I like that it helps my allergies and eustachian tube dysfunction, but the long-term side effects aren't worth it. Will only be using this sparingly for short periods of time from now on.  3  sinus issues / allergies Major anxiety and aggression. Literally any time anyone bothers me in the slightest I go from 0 to 100 with increased heart rate and extreme anger/terror. Deep breaths make me feel light headed and disoriented. This is immediately after 1 use. I does each nostril. Also taking Singulair but have only had 1 dose as well. I have used inthe past and had very mild anxiety as a reaction. THis is a whole 'nother world of side effect. M 1 times
