1  pet allergies I experienced every side effect listed in the patient information that accompanied the drug, and then some. After more than a year after stopping my use of Flonase, I still experience unexplained bruising on my extremities, and nose bleeds. F 52 6 months

5  Allergies to dust, mold, grasses None! This is a wonderful drug for me. I have severe allergies, and took allergy shots weekly from 3 years old through college. Since college I've depended on various antihistamines (most recently Claratin and Allegra) to control my allergies, which only did a moderately good job. Since switching to Flonase two years ago I no longer take antihistamines on a daily basis, but only once or twice a month when absolutely necessary. Flonase, by itself, does a much better job of controlling my congestion than the antihistamines ever did. M 42 2 years

1  Allergies SEVERE ANXIETY; however, all my allergies cleared up. The anxiety was so severe, I experienced panic attacks and ended up on anti-depressants due to a misdiagnosis by my doctor. Although Flonase worked wonderful for my allergies, I began developing severe anxiety. I didn't realize the anxiety was caused by the Flonase until I had to see my doctor for panic attacks. After 2 anti-depressant prescriptions and horrible side effects, I determined that the anxiety was caused by the Flonase. I stopped taking all meds and the very next day felt 100% better. I won't ever take another allergy med again!! F 38 6 days

5  allergies This is a miracle drug. I'm a huge allegy sufferer and Flonase is the only drug that helps me w/o making me tired. It may have side effects however. If taken every day I believe it can casue fever blisters to form. In addition, I had a bad bought with dizziness but not sure it was associated with Flonase although another user comented that it made them dizzy as well, vertigo. I only need to take Flonase now once a week and it works swell. Would highly recommend this drug for limited , once a week, use after taking once a day for at leat a week. M 35 2 days

1  Sinus Infections Unusual muscle pain, muscle pulls, joint pain, joint weakening, soft tissue injuries, lowered immunity, decrease in exercise tolerance. These various side effects were subtle, and cummulative - and like other posts I've read on this site, who'd have thought a simple nose spray could possibly be causing my troubles? These side effects are not widely known, but most of them are listed in the pharmaceutical company insert for individuals who are Had my doctor told me about the potential side effects, or if the printout from the local pharmacies added this information about the potential adverse reactions for sensitive individuals, I know I would have stopped taking this drug much, much sooner than I did. The drug did work, however, in preventing my recurrent sinus infections, by reducing the swelling of my sinus tissues. But, at a high cost. Most of the above reactions subsided after I stopped taking the drug, but the injuries to my elbow, knee and shoulder may never heal completely. Along with the recommendation to ALWAYS read the pharmaceutical company insert, I will be very cautious in considering any other prescription medication in the future. I'll want a drug to be on the market for at least 5 years before I'll even consider it. F 53 3 years

1  chronic non-allergic rhinitis This medication was prescribed for my 5-year-old daughter, who has had chronic stuffy nose and sore throat. While it seemed to help with those symptoms, the effect on my daughter's mood and emotions was frightening. In the space of a week, she went from a happy, social kid to one who cried and clung to me when I dropped her off at preschool, lashed out at her father and me, fought going with her beloved babysitter, and said she felt I was so relieved to read some of the other comments here. I was at my wit's end with the behavior changes and very concerned. When we went back to the pediatrician's office, they acknowledged that the steroids in Flonase could cause aggresion, but they never warned me of that or mood changes when they prescribed the drug.  5  Severe Allergies Dried out sinus' and some blood in my mucus. Over all I can actually smell again, my sinus' are much clearer than they were before and the sneezing has virtually stopped. To help deal with the dried sinus' I bought an over the counter sailine mist with aloe vera which I use mostly at night since that is when the drying is the worst and this helps sooth the dry passages. I still have bloody mucus but it's not inconvenient and has not caused me any problems. I have not had a bloody nose. If you have severe allergies with a very runny nose I would highly recommend this medication. If you already have dry sinus' and want to control sneezing or itchy eyes I would not recommend this medication to you. F 28 2 weeks

1  Rhinitis, Blocked Eustachian Tubes The specialist who prescribed the Flonase said none of the following could possibly be side effects because Flonase is not supposed to be absorbed systemically but nonetheless I have experienced swollen eyelids and swelling around the eyes, dizziness, frequent blood in nasal mucous, and several months of just feeling lousy - very tired all the time, irritable and depressed, low energy, abdominal discomfort. I'm starting to feel my normal (although stuffed up) self since discontinuing the Flonase a couple of months ago. I think the Flonase did help my nasal stuffiness, at least in the first month or so, but feeling so lousy all the time was too big a price to pay for the small benefit. F 56 6 months

5  allergies, sinus headaches Dry eyes at first, got better after a few weeks. Completely relieved the fatigue I felt from the allergies. Allowed me to function again. Can usually take 1 dose in each nostril once a day versus 2 doses once a day. On really bad days I take 1 dose in the a.m. and a 2nd in the p.m. if I am starting to feel worn down from allergies. Flonase does not make me feel out of sorts like antihistamines have. Also, no drowsiness! With Zyrtec all I wanted to do was sleep, even if I took it at night. I had so much fatigue the next day. Flonase is great! F 32 4 years

3  Sinusitis I have had three sinus infections this winter. The dr. prescribed flonase which, in time, helped. At the same time, I developed a bladder infection and other very painful vaginal discomforts that required visits to 2 doctors. After a few weeks the infection healed. I did ask my family physician about the possibility of Flonase causing the infection. He made a joke about it and put me on it again for the next sinus problem. Well, now I have another bladder infection and it's worse than before. I am allergic to almost all antibiotics and of course my doctor wants to put me on antibiotics now. I'll continue with the cranberry since it healed my first infection. I've had it with these drugs. They can kill you before they heal you. Sadly, our doctors know very little about the serious side effects can of the drugs they so freely prescribe. They only look at the less serious. The flonase did help my problem, but caused another more serious one! F 62 3 weeks

3  nasal allergies n/a Have to take nozzel off once a week and flush with hot water or the pump clogs. Doesn't work on my bad nasal congestion during peak pollen season. I still have to take sudafed which does a better job of combating congestion. I'm thinking about asking my doctor for a sample of nasonex. F 35 1 years

5  year round allergies none It has made it possible for me to live without a constant itchy nose, or perpetual sneezing, or the side effects of other medicines. It truly changed my life; I can live (almost) like a person with no allergies. F 43 10 years

1  cataracts Have just been diagnosed with CATARACTS AT AGE 46 Did not know that cataracts were a potential side-effect.Also have had anxiety and trouble sleeping, did not make the connection to flonase until reading these posts. My doctor blamed it on peri-menopause.But have not had those problems during this winter when I do not take flonase. Read warnings on all medications thoroughly! Worked really well for my allergy symptoms, but the side effects are not worth the allergy relief. F 46 2 years

1  allergies; sinus infection Since being on Flonase I have had a case of horrible insomnia (3 nights running), had intense lower back pain, and unpredictable manic-depressive mood swings. I reacted similarly when I had to take prednisone some time ago...avoid Flonase if steroids have ever given you trouble! M 20 4 days

5  Seasonal allergies from Oct-April Started med in conjunction with Claritin in early to mid-December. Helped almost immediately. Night-time snoring decreased (much to the relief of my husband)... but past month, developed SHINGLES, hadn't recalled warning information about lowered immunity to infections...and the past 2 weeks, snoring to beat the band has come back...and have had VERY dry and bloody mucus... as well as one bloody nose. It has been very helpful. I take one spray in each nostril 2 times per day. I didn't take any at all yesterday... and my nose is feeling a little congested... a little runny... but no huge blood clots as before. I will likely try reducing the use to once daily rather than 2 and see if that helps. F 37 2 months

1  allergies cataracts and bloody noses I was just diagnosed with cataracts. I just turned 52, and have used flonase for the past couple of years. I had no idea cataracts are a side-effect of this drug until I read the label. Buyer Beware!! F 52

4  chronic sinusitis constipation after a week or two that wouldn't go away. Also, noticed some mood changes that were affecting my work. I got anxious very easily while on the drug. When I first started taking the drug, it really worked well. I felt like I had more energy. There were a couple of times when I ended up having to take other meds in conjunction with the Flonase. I've stopped taking Flonase after 3 weeks of being on the drug because of the anxiety and the constipation side effects it gave me. F 28 21 days
