After multiple ekgs, chest xrays, blood tests, urine tests, CT of chest abdomen and pelvis, echocardiogram, all came back normal Dr decided to treat with antidepressant, inhaler, bp pill and nitro tabs. Started taking flonase in april, bad side effects started in may, stumbled upon this page on September 21 and stopped taking flonase next day as I had already dosed that morning. So many stories felt like a perfect description of my life the last few months. Dr brushed off flonase and says side effects of this drug are mostly benign, but here I am on October 27 and most of my issues have resolved without using meds prescribed. I take vit d, ashwaganda, vit c, b complex, coq10, magnesium, zinc, and omega 3 daily to help balance me out and get back to baseline. No history of any illness other than the occasional cold. Still have the occasional pulsing in my head and insomnia, and almost constant tight chest with shortness of breath. Smoking and vaping and edibles all cause SOB and tightness of chest to worsen so No more of that til I feel normal again. Several other posts on here claim months of recovery ahead, so I'm optimistic. You are not alone! Since stopping 2 weeks ago I feel significantly better, although not quite 100%. It's hard to see progress day by day, but looking back week by week I see massive improvement. I think the trouble comes when you don't use Flonase properly (likely more common now that it's OTC) and accidentally ingest some by sniffling and swallowing after application, making it like taking a low dose steroid. A corticosteroid affects cortisol production, which could make you physically feel like you're in fight or flight, making your mind fill in the blanks and make you anxious. For me this made sense bc i have been waking up to heart palpitations around 7am when cortisol is highest, however by the afternoon ( and getting earlier everyday :) ) I feel completely normal- when cortisol is lowest. Had large hard knots in the front of my legs near my hips that would not resolve. I have been struggling with low potassium for a while, even dangerously low even before heart surgery.. Fortunately this time I had 1080mg prescription potassium chloride on hand. I normally would take 1 but I took 3 in the day and it scratched the surface. I took 3 more that night. I had already taken large doses of magnesium which I keep on hand. Calcium made it worse so I am waiting for Calcium phosphate to arrive and try that. Yes Depression, can't think clearly and the pain alone was enough to make me feel suicidal. I have 4 young kids; that's just wrong. I missed the first 6 days of school starting and all the messages, forms, assignments, vaccinations, and even calls from relatives about a funeral. I now know how badly Flonase has messed up my health and my life for the last 3 of 4 weeks, but possibly much longer than that. Could be a while still. Can't even make meals yet or shop for food because of the pain. Missing my Son's first football game and one last family vacation we have been planning. | Flonase left me in serious pain and dangerously low potassium levels. It could have easily cost me my life.
