4  Chronic non-allergic rhinitis None. I was quite surprised to see the reviews from so many people who had multiple harmful side effects. Because even the generic form is expensive, I cut the dosage down from two sprays per nostril twice a day to one spray per nostril per day before going to bed. It still works well for me at that level. M 61 20 years

1  nasal allergies loss of smell and taste, anxiety, perforation of septum I have taken a corticosteroid drug (Becanase,Vancenase or Flonase) for over 20 years to combat nasal allergies. The drugs worked great, reducing the number of sinus infections I would normally get. However in time the side effects have outweighed the benefits. I've suffered anxiety for many years not really knowing what was causing it. The loss of smell and taste I chalked up to a lifetime of nasal allergies and recurrent sinus infections. However most recently I have been diagnosed with a large perforation in my septum caused by a decrease blood flow in the nose. A surgery to correct the perforation and the "whistle" caused by it was unsuccessful. The surgeon couldn't perform the surgery because the tissue didn't have adequate blood flow to graft other tissue to it. I took this medicine for a long time, and no doctor (there were at least five who continued to prescribe it) explained the side effects to me. I should have read them on my own, but because I was so happy to have F 54 20 years

5  seasonal allergies None. A great medication. No more stuffy nose and the irritability that goes with it. In the Spring when others are sneezing, I'm not. I don't have a dog, but I can now work with dogs and remain comfortable. F 53 16 years

5  Allergies None. Works well. Good way to use it to do a sinus rinse first, then blow your nose, then 1 shot/nostril/day. Nasal rinse feels weird but in combo with Flonase does the job. M 50 15 years

4  post nasal drip, scratchy voice JUST DIAGNOSED WITH OSTEOPOROSIS AT AGE 46! I now have the bones of a 76 year old woman. Otherwise extremely healthy, but my doctor wanted to check bone density because of long-term Flonase use. It absolutely kept my voice great and nasal drip non-existent. Very rarely caught a cold. Unfortunately, I've got to discontinue use now and work to restore my bones. F 46 12 years

4  seasonal allergies Recently, much more nasal bleeding than usual. also, discovered a large, red looking place inside nostril. It is amazing how many symptoms I have that others on this site have, but I never attributed it to flonase: anxiety disorder, beginning of cataracts, osteopenia, muscle and joint soreness. evidently, this med does NOT just stay in your nasal cavity.  5  plugged sinus Dry nasal passage, some bleeding. I use flonase followed by a dab of vaseline in both nostrils every night. I can always breath now! I could not tolerate flonase without the use of vaseline at least once daily (more in dry or cold winter weather). My docotr (surgeon) said I would be required to take flonase for life following sinus surgery to open blockages. I can usually breath through both nostrils now. I never get sinus infections any more, that may be a result of sinus surgery that removed turbinates and God knows what other spare parts! Breathing is GREAT now! M 49 10 years

5  year round allergies none It has made it possible for me to live without a constant itchy nose, or perpetual sneezing, or the side effects of other medicines. It truly changed my life; I can live (almost) like a person with no allergies. F 43 10 years

5  Allergic Rhinitis (SEVERE) No side effects that I am aware of. I've been taking Flonase for 10 years (most of that time in combination w/a pill like Bromfed or Dallergy), and it has worked miracles for me. I went from having severe allergy attacks once a month to none at all. Unfortunately, my allergist has told me that this long-term steroid use isn't good for me, and he is switching me to Astelin. I will miss this product, as it worked without fail. F 25 10 years

5  Chronic allergic rhinitis 1 puff/ea nostril daily year round for 10 yrs: * Weight gain 6.3%. * Daily bloody nasal scabs, deviated septum unable to heal. * Mild joint soreness and stiffness * Severe acid reflux. (associated? Reflux stopped w/i 3 months after taking Flonase.) * Occasional acne (at 41=> 51) * Erectile dysfunction developed over several years. * Quite effective at reducing nasal mucous secretions. Significantly reduced minor colds. Replaced by NasalCrom w very good results and elimination of side effects over 6 months. * Wt gain 205=> 218 w/i first few months of starting Flonase. Wt loss of equal amount w/i 6 months of stopping after 10 yrs use. * Mile swim times increased 6.5% over 5 months after stopping. * Frequent small white secretions on tonsils that appeared after starting Flonase and largely left after stopping. Odd. * ED-- associated with aging and taking Lipitor. Stopped the Lipitor, and over 2 or 3 months some function returned and then no further improvement. Stopped Flonase 6 months later, and over tne next 6 months full function returned. Same timing as improvement with the mild joint soreness and stiffness. M 52 10 years

5  rhinitis No noted side effects other then dry nose. Flonase has been a tremendous miracle drug for me. I was never able to breathe from my nose........Flonase opened up my nasal passages. I have noticed that if I use the two squirts in each nostral once a day advice.......my nose dries out. I use one puff in each nostral every other day and it keeps me cleared up. M 45 10 years

5  Sinus congestion would tiger migrai Didn't think it was helping me much but any thing to help keep the migraines away was good until I had intense arm pain. I couldn't even hold my children or pump my own gas without extreme pain. Went to many Dr's with no luck. This went on for over a year. Went on vacation but forgot flonase. My arms started to work again. I've been off it for 2 months now and my arms and strength are better than they have been in years. FYI no change in migraines or sinuses. WILL NEVER TAKE AGAIN !  4  seasonal allergies Had taken flonase for 2 months in spring for years, w/o side effects. But the last few years i have experienced dizziness around this time of year. Is it the flonase? The allergies themselves? or the Alavert? It changed my life for the better. Without Flonase, I was going through 100 kleenexes a day. Now I use about 4. F 49 10 years
