5  Anxiety and depression Decreased libido - still present but not an issue. Insomnia to begin with but mirtazapine helps combat this side effect. Nausea and loose stools but changes in diet have helped alleviate some on this. Plus I would rather have side effects than suffer with anxiety/depression. Wow!!! Wished I'd known about this year's ago as I've always struggled with anxiety which has prevented me from achieving so much from life! Honestly, I have confidence to talk to people now without worrying or working out what they might say or think about me. I am doing things I was never capable of doing and not over thinking about tasks. I can drive on motorways now, in fact I prefer them now. My brain is no longer racing at 100mph. I'm calm, happier and all the things in life that got me worrying and dreading are no longer present. I feel normal, whatever that is :) my wife cannot believe the changes in me, my kids now benefit from me being happier and doing more with them. My work life has improved due to having more confidence and laughing more. It took around 2 months for side effects to subside but well worth sticking with. It also took about two months to fully feel the benefits. Started in 50mg and raised to 100mg after couple of months. Absolutely a life saver for me. I know this won't be the case for everyone as we all have different experiences but for me I would like to stay on it the rest of my life. I take it around 10am after breakfast. M 38 1 days

5  Debilitating anxiety I once tried citalopram but they gave me a permanent heart flutter that hurt so I had been trying to control my anxiety myself. I think alot of mine has come from my age and hormones but i can't say I don't give in to the anxiety, its been too hard to fight sometimes. I work, but on my days off I would barely clean up, I would sleep and feel sorry for myself with debilitating symptoms, like head rushing and feeling sick. I finally plucked up the courage to try sertraline, and what a difference already. I started on a low dose and it's still early days. The side effects only lasted 5 days, apart from I feel sickly first thing. I'm decorating and up and about, I'm not fixed yet and it's still early days, but I'm very pleased so far. F 47 21 days

5  PMDD Tiredness This medication was honestly a life saver. This was the first antidepressant my doctor prescribed for my PMDD and it worked in a matter of days. I still have bad days every now and then but SIGNIFICANTLY less than before. It did make me tired at first but I just take it at night! F 19 8 months

5  Mdd, anxiety, suicidal ideation Loss of sex drive. Emotional blunting. The emotional blunting is part of why this works for me. You do have to take it regularly. A big part of my mental issues through my 20s I attribute to never taking my antidepressants regularly. M 36 10 years

5  Anxiety and Depression loss of libido, mild drowsiness, mild muscle twitches. Completely changed my life. Intrusive/suicidal thoughts stopped, doom spirals stopped... I stopped worrying and started living. 50mg/day is all it took. Stick it out. It took about 4 weeks for it to REALLY start working. Say goodbye to your sex drive however, but it's worth it if you ask me. M 21 3 months

5  Anxiety, disordered sleep Brief nausea for a day or two. I had been suffering from chronic anxiety and delayed sleep onset / sleep maintenance disorder since I was a teenager. I existed in a state of chronic sleep deprivation, emotional incontinence, and anxiety bordering on paranoia. No amount of conservative therapy seemed to help. Sertraline helped me achieve a sense of normalcy that I've never felt in my life. I feel like I can be a functioning adult. I no longer have random heart palpitations or doom spirals, I no longer take over an hour to fall asleep, and I no longer wake up 3+ times in the night with a racing heart. Small things that used to occupy all of my mental and emotional energy no longer bother me. I have my life back. M 31 2 years

5  Anxiety , insomnia A few nights of discomfort - hot flushes, restlessness, insomnia got worse Despite all my side effects I started to feel the difference a few days after I started taking this drug. My mind stopped racing like crazy and bad thoughts (especially at night) stopped torturing me. I feel calm and think clearly. I found it better for me to take this medicine in the morning with breakfast, because it makes me very energetic initially and it's perfect for the morning, as it doesn't affect my sleep. My insomnia got much better with this drug. I can fall asleep without sleep aid tablets and feel good in the morning. I still wake up at night and in take me a while fall asleep, however I feel a dramatic change. F 37 2 weeks

5  Extreme anxiety, panic attacks and The first few weeks I had mild headaches, nausea, dry mouth, diarrhea. Anxiety did get a little worse before it got better. I suffered for years with extreme anxiety, panic attacks and depression to the point I hated to leave the house, drive around town (at the thought of getting killed in an accident). I kept my children away from so many things because I feared it would hurt them. My heart would race so fast and hard that I would have to call family or friends to calm me down. I was easily frustrated with every little thing. I used so many excuses not to go anywhere or socialize with anyone. I cried a great deal randomly for no reason. It was zoloft that gave me my life back. Thankful for this medication in so many ways. My children and husband finally have the old me back, the best me. It did take over a month to see full affects, but it is working a great deal for me. I no longer suffer heart racing anxiety, severe panic attacks or depression. I am much happier with myself and my life than I was years ago. I love the new me, all thanks to ZOLOFT! Give it a chance, don't give up. Some may take a few months before seeing full affects. I did get discouraged the first 3 weeks because I felt it wasn't doing much. But my husband pushed me. And thankful he did. F 32 1 months

5  MDD/Anxiety increased anxiety, dry mouth, shaking, blurred vision, stomach distress, heart palpitations It took months until i found my therapeutic dose of Zoloft that finally worked for me! I used to screenshot and save all the positive reviews and i will read them thinking will i ever feel better! After I started zoloft, I thought i was going crazy, especially when i woke up In the morning. Tried to manage it and I would call the doctor of this is normal and he said yes, until the zoloft starts working! He suggested to take 0.5 mg Ativan when i was feeling really bad and anxious and it worked! There were good days and bad days during these months, the recovery was not linear. After a long time of dealing with low mood, and anxiety I wanted to come here and give some positive reviews for the people that are currently going though it! It will get better but please be patient with the medicine! I started with 25 mg, after 2 months went for 50mg then 75 mg and im staying at this dose for the next months! Im on month 6 now and feeling much better and calm! Also one thing is try not to pay attention over analyzing how you feel, and why you feel this way! It's all normal as your body/brain adjusts to the medicine! If you are not hungry or if you don't feel well, juat rest, eat when you feel hungry( for me it was best to eat in the evening). Try not to think about the next day! Learn to accept that this is only temporary and nothing will happen to you! It's just a matter on time until you feel yourself again and let the Zoloft F 29 5 months

5  Generalized Anxiety PTSD Increased anxiety the first week or so as well as blurred up close vision. Longer sexual stamina. Minor upset stomach if taken on empty stomach. I am a retired veteran. This drug allowed me to live my life like I was never able to. I lived with generalized anxiety and social phobia for so long I accepted it as the norm. This medication was prescribed by my psych after CBT session of trying to find the root cause of my PTSD and worry. I am so grateful this medication has enabled me to live my live more peacefully. I recommend to seek help and find whatever method works for you to alleviate your suffering. These drugs can have a bad reputation because some people probably exaggerate their mental illness and get terrible results from taking the meds. For me, it's working with a positive effect.  5  Depression/Social anxiety None I'm so happy that a psychiatrist finally suggested Zoloft, another treatment than Lexapro, Celexa, Effexor and Seroquel. They all made me like a lethargic zombie without any motivation and causing weight gain. Finally, I have my life back, I don't suffer from depression and social anxiety anymore and I still feel my emotions. Also, it's weight neutral. I have ADHD also and it increase my cognitive functions. It potentiates my Adderall 40 mg and Wellbutrin XL 300 mg. My energy level is normal, but much higher than on other treatments. I still have insomnia and have to take zopiclone 7.5 mg + melatonine 3 mg at night. I still have anxiety but it's part of life and I see a psychologist for CBT therapy to manage my emotions. I think that erasing all the symptoms with pills is not the answer. I go to the gym also to boost the antidepressant and anti-anxiety effect. M 40 90 days

5  Covid-19 induced depression/ADHD First week: appetite loss, weight loss (6 lbs), insomnia, nervous system stimulation, headache, elation Second week: euphoria, headache insomnia, loss of libido Third week: loss of libido Now: None I was a gym addict, I was really fit because I'm a kinesiologist and a naturopathic doctor.. When the covid started, Everything changed for the worst in Quebec, Canada. I lost my job they closed the gyms and most of the business. I gained 30 pounds in 40 days I became crazy and anorectic, so I was hospitalized 3 times. The first 2 times they didnt do anything and saw me 5 min each time. The third time at another hospital, a psychiatric nurse and the psychiatrist took 1 hour with me and prescribed zoloft because it act strongly on serotonin, dopamine, and a little bit on norepinephrine so it's more effective for my symptoms than other SSRIs, and I tried them all. It's good for anhedonia, lack of motivation and energy, depression, social anxiety, anxiety. The fatigue is present if you don't take it at the right time some have to take with dîner and me with breakfast, always with food for effectiveness. I got out of deep depression, I went back to the gym and I can feel pleasure, that's a miracle because I could not for many years after I stop drugs.  5  Anxiety Ok folks. I am a teacher, I was a college wrestler, and I did some MMA fighting. I was a pretty confident person and then I don't know wtf happened! I had a later in life kid, and I had a ton of stress at work and I just kind of flipped out. I was a jittery, nervous wreck. I curled up on my couch, avoided my wife and kids, and just couldn't stop worrying. I was a friggin mess. I finally went to a doctor and he prescribed 50 mg of Zoloft. I ain't kidding, for the first two weeks my life was hell. I was MORE anxiety riddled than ever! My heart raced, I couldn't sleep, I stressed like a maniac, and I wanted to quit. But, then I read, and read, and read. Five weeks along now I feel GREAT! This stuff has changed my life. I am back to my old self and things that used to turn me into a cowering wuss now excite me as opportunities. I would say to anyone HANG IN THERE! The first few weeks will be hell, but you will come through it. If you can, start it in a lapse at your work or something. I think what happens at first is that your serotonin spikes when you first take it and then you feel ok, but as it wears off you go through withdrawal and are lower than before and missing the good feeling. Gradually, your body achieves homeostasis by meeting the new level throughout your day. Keep your chin up and drive through the first phase. M 49 5 weeks

5  GAD and mild depression FROM ADD Was first on for 5 years, little to no side effects. Went off for 2 years and now back on. A wee bit of nausea and insomnia Other than the insomnia it works better than any other I have tried with least side effects. Tried 100 mg when brother died. Way too much. I can even take it every other day due to it’s long half life if I want to cut down and is like taking 25mg a day. Tried Wellbutrin which is first line prescribed for Adult ADD but the crash was horrible and gave me gerd. F 58 5 years

5  Panic disorder At first it made me feel uncomfortable in my skin. After a month, my panic attacks slowed down from everyday to once a week then after a few months went completely. It has helped me enormously with anxious thoughts. I was always sick before and got every cold that went around but it helped with my chronic exhaustion. I really recommend it. But I’ve found 50mgs works for me. 100mgs made me feel high. F 32 2 years
