I wish I had never listened to my doctor b/c now I cannot get off of the medication due to rebound reflux which is worse than the initial symptoms that I had before taking any medication at all. The past 8 months of my life have been hell and I believe all of the issues I have had are due to this medication. I am in my twenties I shouldn’t be waking up every single day with some new health issue to worry about. The medicine does work for me but trust me when I say it’s NOT worth the side effects that come with it. I had an anxiety attack within an hour of the pill and have spent the past 3.5 weeks in an anxious state. The tingling/pins and needles in my arms went away and lasted in my legs for about a week, however, now I’m left with constant burning sensations in my legs and feet. It is worse when I lay down before going to bed and is still there when I wake up in the morning. My muscles also feel so weak. Things I used to be able to do with no problem make me feel tired. Like walking up the stairs makes my legs feel weak. I can’t believe an over the counter drug can cause such horrible symptoms. Doctors say it’s my anxiety but I never experienced anxiety like this before taking Prilosec. It has ruined my life and been the worst month of doctor appointments and ER visits. I have lost hope of this burning feeling going away. Panic attacks were extreme the first week stopping Prilosec. I would wake up in the middle of the night hyperventilating and crying. 2nd week panic attacks are gone and anxiety calmed down. 3rd week I thought anxiety was gone but I feel anxious when I wake up and after I eat. So weird. Will the anxiety ever go away? If you have experienced tingling and burning sensations in your legs after taking this Prilosec email me. Symptoms persisted for weeks. | These issues result from immune activation when you stop taking the medicine also calcium and magnesium imbalances. I am writing this on behalf of my husband. The only things that helped him were the following: taking chewable calcium, taking a magnesium supplement and tapering off over several months. He had to get a prescription for a 10mg pill from his doctor in order to do this. The calcium was really helpful and the chewable form seems to be more bioavailable and helped with the tremors. Your body can quickly become dependent on this so be careful taking this, that’s why it is only recommended for short term use (2 weeks and under) but most doctors believe it is a harmless pill. Just like others on here, none of the doctors acknowledged my husbands symptoms as being a result of coming off this medication, they all thought we were crazy even though there are articles stating that these drugs effect the muscles, brain and immune system and cause serious withdrawal effects. | M | 36 | 1 years 40 | 4/9/2019 | 1 | Acid reflux | Extreme anxiety terrible gas and bloating back pain. chest pain.
