| 1 | gastrits | Woke up in the morning after taking for 8 days with a horrible burning neck pain and headache on the back of my head between my ears. Couldn't move my head from side to side because the pain and stiffness were so severe. At first I thought I might have slept in a weird position and had a kink in my neck, but this was different. Took it for 3 more days until I finally realized it could be the Prilosec that was causing it. Came across this website while looking for others with similar side effects and connected the dots.I stopped taking it after 11 days. The symptoms persisted at the same intensity for a few days, and then have slowly been getting better. I'm on day 7 off the stuff and am still having mild headaches and neck pain. | I wish I had never taken this poison. I went to my doctor, whom I trusted, and he prescribed this for for because I had been having stomach pain and I was worried about a possible ulcer. I hope that I can get this stuff out of my system asap, and have been drinking lots of juice and water to flush my system. I will never trust a doctors prescription again and will thoroughly research any new meds I put in my body. I wish I had before I started taking this. I STRONGLY ADVISE NOT TAKING PRILOSEC. | M | 52 | 11 days 40MG 1X day | 5/19/2017 | 1 | hiatus hernia | heart palpitations high blood pressure tingling in legs anxiety panic attacks | i have been taking this dreaded drug for 4 years or more! worked great for acid reflux in all these years! but unknown to me it has been depleting all my vitamins my Vit D is 14!!! the lowest my Dr said she has ever seen! my B12 is borderline and goodness knows what my magnesium level is!! about 7 weeks ago i started having panic attacks which in turn caused me to hyperventilate! i have been to ER 3 times, and still my Doctor did not say it was because of these drugs!! instead put me on an antidepressant which i did not want to do, but i felt so ill and thought i was going mad that i took them! worse 7 weeks of my life! when i found these sites about omerprazole it was like an eureka moment for me!! i stopped taking these horrible drugs now and am on Zantac! i take vitamin D tablets and today i bought Magnesium oil that you rub in your skin and absorbs quicker than tablets and believe it or not the tingling in my legs has eased tremendously! i just hope and pray that my anxiety will disappear in time and i can come off the antidepressants! i strongly suggest that you research these horrible drugs before taking them!!! | F | 4 years 20mg 2X day | 5/13/2017 | 1 | GERD | Headaches, blurred vision, heart palpitations, panic attacks, back and chest pain, congestion, cough, full body muscle and bone pain, stomach pain, severe vitamin D deficiency, iron anemia. | Ive been to the ER numeruos times thinking I was having a heart attack. Made an unnecessary trip to the ER. All side effects disappeared when I weaned off the drug. Unfortunately the weaning process was horrible!! Gradually decreased dose over several weeks with moderate acid reflux, but when I quit completely, had problems with acid every time I ate. Recommend Taking DGL before meals. Took tums, but never more than 2 a day, and chew cinnamon gum after eating...it really works to curb the increase acid! 1 month off, finally seeing some improvement. I was telling the doctor, This is not me. I don't know what is going on. The headaches resolve over about 6 weeks. Then I took the medicine again for the 2nd time and I was anxious and felt like something was sticking me in my arms and chest, my stomach was hurting and loose stools. Ran back to the doctors, they said it was nothing. I saw 3 doctors. The pin and needle and sticking pain last for months. Slowly got better but I had some L side back pain. The last time I took the medicine, after 2 weeks my stomach was hurting. I looked it up the side effects and saw congestion, stomachache, sneezing and sore throat and headache. All of which I was having except the headache. I stopped immediately. Then the headache came, it reminded me of the headache I had that made me get a CT scan. I then looked up how long the side effects of Prilosec last then I found this site. Everything became clear to me. I was suffering over a year. I was seeing a therapist and spending money on acupuncture trying to get better.
