The only remaining side effect (3 weeks after finishing course) is left hip pain & stiffness. This seems to be a tendinitis, and it is resolving with rest and daily stretching. The pharmacist is who went over to avoid caffeine, dairy 2 hours before/after doses, and with my calcium. Monitor potassium, etc. Drink half gallon of water per day, and no heavy aerobics or weights, until I'm back to normal. I was told that would take about 5 days. And then, to baby step back in. I also have a compromised immune system, from Fibromyalgia & IBS, Migraines. I must take lots of supplements and dairy, but warned to work around the doses, as there can be issues with the Cipro if closer than 2 hours. It saved my life, and I actually have felt better than when I first came down with fibro! It's helped my uti infection but the side affects are hard to deal with. I can't walk and stand for long periods of time because I start feeling pain on the ball of my foot and calfs. I wake up in the middle of the night with major anxiety and close to having anxiety attacks. I took this pill last year and I had major depression with suicidal thoughts. I didn't want to take this pill, which I told my doctor but the first round of antibiotics I took (macrobid) didn't work and my uti came back. That's when doc gave me cipro. She said there was nothing else that she thought would work. So I reluctantly accepted to take the pills as the infection was getting to my kidneys. I'm terrified this will cause permanent damage. I want to stop taking it but I don't want my infection to come back. Not sure what to do at this point. I figured out it was the yogurt I had been eating so much of because it's supposed to be good for your intestines, but I switched to lactose free yogurt and it's gone away! It was the lactose that is also in all dairy foods that was irritating my intestine! Hope this help you all and please spread the word! If you're lactose intolerant, regular yogurt has lactose! The back pain from my kidney infection was so bad that I could hardly walk and after taking Cipro for two days I felt almost completely better!
