| 2 | insomnia | wake up every 3 hours | i started taking 15 mg daily for 2 months and from the start i would wake up constantly all night. my dr increased it to 30 mg a month ago and the same thing happens. now i take it before bed and i need to take another one when i wake up a few hours later. not a good night of sleep ever. my dr wont prescribe me anything else so do not recommend it if you can try anything else | F | 20 | 3 months | 1/24/2010 | 2 | trouble falling and staying asleep | Slight loss of memory and congnitime skills waking up, numbness in limbs and shakiness. I literally took the medication an hour or more before bedtime and it would not help me at all. Needless to say it was frustrating because I just couldn't sleep. At one point I even took 3 and nothing. I stopped using the medication. Headache lasted the majority of the day. Day two: I just woke up at 3 AM (after falling asleep about 1 AM) from the most vivid, stressful, and upsetting dream I have ever had. Also woke up with the exact same headache I just finally got rid of less than eight hours ago. | The effects of Restoril on helping me fall asleep were stellar. Much more gentle and effective than Ambien. The side effect of the terrible headache is not one I'm capable of enduring, and completely negates the benefit of being able to fall asleep quickly. I actually think this is for your sleeping partner, so that they will think you are asleep because your body is not moving, hence you dont disturb them, but your mind is going a hundred miles an hour. Then it started to keep me asleep until exactly 4;30am every night and then i would be up and could not go back to sleep. I started out on 7.5mg nightly and increased it to 30mg after reading comments on this site. It seemed to work at 30mg nightly. | Restoril also gave me strange nightmares and/or hallucinations. After years of using Ambien, I wanted to try something else primarily to see if I'd developed any addiction issues to Ambien. (No, btw.) Well, even the 30 mg. dose does nothing for me w/out a boost. I take no other meds so two nights ago I tried combining with a OTC sleep aid at 8 p.m., then the restoril at 10 and I slept but even then only for 4 hours and with waking several times. On it's own, it's done nothing for me. I hate that it's a capsule. I'd like to try and up the dose one night and see others have, but jumping from 30 to 60 makes me nervous. Restoril for insomnia and Clonozepam for anxiety. Not really satisfied with the Restoril. I take it right before I go to sleep. I’ve had insomnia for about 3-4 years now and was hoping this would be my wonder drug but it doesn’t do the job. I’d like to sleep at least 5-6 hrs straight instead I awake up then struggle to try and fall back to sleep again. By then it’s time to wake up for the day. I have the craziest dreams or nightmares. I just keep going over the same dream over and over again. I dread going to sleep because I know i’ll Have a night mare. Sometimes I jump up with my chest pounding. I go back to sleep sometimes having the sweats. Beside that I feel groggy in the morning and feel depressed not wanting to do anything but wallow in self pity and even anger because I’m beginning to become dependent on it. I’ve only been on Restoril for a month now so I’m going to just take it as needed because I’m also on the Clonozepam which also makes me sleepy. I take the Restoril as needed. My Dr. Said it’s not for long term use just as needed but now I take it every night. I guess now would be the time to taper slowly. I’ve taken Ambien before also caused me to have weird dreams but I slept longer. I can’t function without at least 5-6 hrs of straight sleep. | Not as great as my Dr. said it was. These drs just prescribe these meds like they’re candy from the discount store. They know the drugs are habit forming. At least mine told me to just use as needed, I’m grateful for that. Also these drugs are not good for your kidneys or liver Ask and do your research before filling your prescriptions .
