1  Sexual advances-wife/Alzheimers As a disabled RN, I know that Haldol is detrimental to our individual's (ESPECIALLY to our elderly population). Recently, my dad was at deaths door due to Haldol's side effects. Haldol causes tardive dyskinsia (muscle stiffness, alterted range of motion, etc). This week, I moved my 90 year old dad from a Rehab/nursing facility in NC - (I am dad's POA & Health Care Surrogate). The physicians knew that they were NOT allowed to prescribe ANY medication for dad unless I was notified. I was horrified when I took dad from the facility in NC and discovered that they had been "zoning" him out with Haldol. (I thought that his memory and mobility problems were due to the his aging process). Haldol has too many side effects to even be on the market. I took dad home to FL (mom passed away a few months ago, so it was time for a move for dad). Dad's legs were so swollen that they were purple: I immediately discontinued the Haldol. He was so ill from Haldol that the VA in Tampa had to a M 90 365 years

3  Bipolar Extreme weight gain, sleepyness, memory loss, unable to focus as usual. It is the ONLY medication that worked for me. The news anti psychotics do not work for me. So I am stuck. I am now not taking it at heavy dosage but lower doses, so it is more tolerable. M 30 5 years

3  tourette syndrome first three yrs i was a zombie, and then i weaned off to respiridol. very bad experience with a blood pressure drop and extremely sick in the hospital for about a week. the second time around my tics got worse with the TS,so i needed something because i was in a lot of pain. i took haldol again and experienced acathesia, bad restlessness that is extremely indescribable. ive recently tried more drugs of its type- seroquel, respiridol, albilify, and a few others. i keep getting acathesia. also in case you wonder why they give this to patients with tourettes, they dont have any other meds made for TS yet, its still up in the air, seizure meds and antipsychotics are what they use and have for a long time used. ask your doc a ton of questions. ask about tardive dyskinesia after long term usage of haldol. also you can expect a whole lot of sleepiness. i used to sleep on this med from 4 in the afternoon until the nxt day at lunch time. the second time around on haldol all i got was acathesia. so until something better comes i deal with the pain of my tics, and i have learned relaxing, reducing anxiety, and not overdoing it helps my tics.  4  Bipolar mania It slows me down physically first, then mentally. It makes my legs feel heavy. I breathe deeper. It makes my head feel heavy. I am still able to function, but not at full capacity. I take .5mg once or twice per day as needed. I usually take it for 3 days in a row, sometimes 4 days. I only use it once or twice a year. I use it as a last resort if I feel I am no longer able to control myself. I don't like to take it because I don't like the way it makes me feel, but I take it because it works. It appears to me that those of you with bad experiences were given high doses. I only get .5mg. My doctor told me I could cut that in half if I wanted to! I would be scared to take more than .5mg at one time. F 38 4 years

1  Exgirlfriend invented lies about me Strange sensation in my tongue; Muscle stiffness in legs; Problems with thinking (including the loss of ablility to work out arithmetical calculations mentally); Continuous stomach pain; Unexplainable fatigue during the day; Bad dreams at night. This drug should be stopped completely. Its manufacturers are to be kept financially responsible for all the havoc they are causing around the world, and must also be prosecuted for animal cruelty if the drug had been tested on defenseless animals.  1  Doctors misdiagnosis I have scoliosis and am also diagnosed with HIV. This halperidol is the worst medication and is prescribed misproperly by doctors who just want to keep a job. I have allergies to this medication (similar to people with peanut butter allergies), and major side effects. For example my neck getting stuck sideways with my head slanted, very painful and last for hours till you do something about it otherwise doesn't go away, and happens for days among weeks after every time. Nobody cared. Instead they would force me to take it. I have scoliosis and am also diagnosed with HIV.  5  Bipolar felt drowsy It seems people either hate this medicine or love it. I can say that considering the alternatives, Haloperidol is my friend. Atypicals didn't work for me as well. I feel calm, rested, and generally keep a good mood. M 35 1 years

3  schizophrenia I was put on haldol because I was having a mental breakdown some say. I couldn't walk, talk , sleep, eat or even bathe. People say it was a demonic spirit in me because I thought I was hearing voices and seeing things . My eyes were wide and I was scared for my life . Other say I may have been drugged but I don't remember any. I don't go out this just happened out of no where . I was in the mental facility because I said I wanted to kill myself . I was in the mental facility for about 3 months!!!! I was transferred so many times. I remember one time I was acting out and they gave me a shot I don't remember what it was but it calm me down . After I got on out they recommended haldol . I was giving the 50 ML dose via injection every month. This medication made me feel like I couldn't walk, I have delayed speech, had a hard time remembering things just felt like I was "slow" . I asked for a lower dosage and they declined my request. So I suddenly stop going. It's been 5 months since my last injection and I feel okay I guess . I'm back to normal but I still have days where I feel said I'm going to relapse. Sometimes I feel like I need the medication then again I don't want to be on it cause it makes me feel out of my body . ( can't do daily functions) Dont stop taking the medication suddenly talk to your doctor your . I would somewhat recommend if you stay at home and don't work . If your the type to work and around the public eye I wouldn't recommend. This medication makes up me feel like I want to isolate myself from the world, F 27 1 years
