I am usually very sensitive to medications and at first had to cut the pill in half to make 400mg. My throat started closing up, my face swelled up and turned red, it got very hot, my heart raced, I felt like I was going to pass out. I had to go to our local urgent care because it was closer the the ER. The doctor there said that my throat was so swollen that he was surprised that I could carry on a cohearent conversation. They treated me with an epi- pen and Benadryl They didn't tell me I might have a rebound reaction the next day and I ended up calling 911 the next day and was taken to the ER. It has been over 3 weeks and my skin is still very dry and my bladder is very irritated and I have had hearburn every since. Plus I just feel like crap all the time now. | I emailed and phoned the company King Pharm. and this morning I asked them to reimburse my medical costs as my research showed that this is a common occurance and the Rep. told me, and I quote "There are so many people who have so many adverse reactions that we can't possibly reimburse them all" WHAT?! I almost died because of their medication!! I am really upset that a drug company can use us as lab rats and get away with it. I have read that this has happened to many people. I have contacted a couple of Class Action Lawyers to try and get my medical costs reimbursed. I cannot believe that the drug companies get away with this. If anyone wants to join me in trying to get a Class Action Lawsuit going let me know. [email protected]. I am prone to severe muscle spasms and only take this medicine when I need it. It helps with the terrible pain of occasional spasms, as well as helping to prevent spasms when taken before bed. I have a very sensitive stomach and can't take any NSAIDs or pain medicine stronger than tylenol but Skelaxin hasn't bothered my stomach at all. I've been a college student for the last several years and Skelaxin hasn't interfered with my ability to think and it doesn't make me feel drugged. I've been sick for a solid month with the worst sore throat I've ever had, with canker sores and swollen lymph nodes. Also had influenza really bad at the same time and was treated for pneumonia, and ear and sinus infections. I'm coming off that right into a stomach virus. I was optimistic as this Rx is also prescribed for TMJ, which I suffer from along with sinusitis and injury in my spine, particularly in the cervical spine. This medication fooled me into thinking it was helpful when I took 1/2 an 800mg along with 100mg gabapentin. My first dose I felt a lift in energy and focus. It did not alleviate pain but shifted the minds focus from suffering to whatever task you have in mind. That night I slept better than I had in months in spite of developing mild Tinnitus. Unfortunately I slept till noon the next day. The second day I was able to skip taking rx and chose not to because I still had ringing in my right ear which was stronger and with worsening of TMJ symptoms. I had hoped these side effects would subside over 24 hours. They didn’t! The third day I took a 1/2 dose and felt woozy and could not focus. No reduction in pain or tension. That night I did not sleep at all. I had Restless Legs and unbearable pain in hips and legs. Drove me out of bed despite exhaustion from med induced INSOMNIA. The fourth day I took a whole dose in hopes that would be the solution or, if nothing else, I could firmly peg these side effects on this drug. Well, no relief. Horrible insomnia and Tinnitus like I’ve never experienced. I'm also taking a bit of Vicadin, but trying to keep that to a minimum so I can "think". The Skalaxin does seem to get some build up after taking a few days. Not supposed to be addictive and you can function mentally to a moderate degree. Might not help with super bad pain. On the last dose I woke up with a headache and felt very tired.
