| 4 | Lower Back Pain | NONE | I am very surprised by all of the negative comments on this drug. I have 800mg tabs and take only as needed. These pills do work great for me. Went into weepy spells any time I skipped a day after I'd been on it 3 months. Otherwise it seemed to help quite a bit with muscle spasms. | Skelaxin is the only med I was on that the printout said to watch for sore throat. After 6 months my immune system is stripped. I've been sick for a solid month with the worst sore throat I've ever had, with canker sores and swollen lymph nodes. Also had influenza really bad at the same time and was treated for pneumonia, and ear and sinus infections. I'm coming off that right into a stomach virus. This medication fooled me into thinking it was helpful when I took 1/2 an 800mg along with 100mg gabapentin. My first dose I felt a lift in energy and focus. It did not alleviate pain but shifted the minds focus from suffering to whatever task you have in mind. That night I slept better than I had in months in spite of developing mild Tinnitus. Unfortunately I slept till noon the next day. The second day I was able to skip taking rx and chose not to because I still had ringing in my right ear which was stronger and with worsening of TMJ symptoms. I had hoped these side effects would subside over 24 hours. They didn’t! The third day I took a 1/2 dose and felt woozy and could not focus. No reduction in pain or tension. That night I did not sleep at all. I had Restless Legs and unbearable pain in hips and legs. Drove me out of bed despite exhaustion from med induced INSOMNIA. The fourth day I took a whole dose in hopes that would be the solution or, if nothing else, I could firmly peg these side effects on this drug. Well, no relief. Horrible insomnia and Tinnitus like I’ve never experienced. I also take ibuprofen or Vicadin for the pain but I've experimented with just taking Skelaxin and it seems to relieve some pain by itself. Skelaxin worked a miracle for me on my last project, helping my muscles stay looser when I was cramped in front of the screen. And the first time I played tennis after starting the meds, I could tell immediately that my swing was more free, and I didn't spasm. I read another person's report that after taking Skalaxin, he or she began to experience lumbar spine pain. I run three miles a day and never had low back problems until I started on Skelaxin. It might be a coincidence, or maybe the medicine is relaxing my "core" muscles too much. I am usually very sensitive to medications and at first had to cut the pill in half to make 400mg. They treated me with an epi- pen and Benadryl They didn't tell me I might have a rebound reaction the next day and I ended up calling 911 the next day and was taken to the ER. It has been over 3 weeks and my skin is still very dry and my bladder is very irritated and I have had hearburn every since. Plus I just feel like crap all the time now. | I emailed and phoned the company King Pharm. and this morning I asked them to reimburse my medical costs as my research showed that this is a common occurance and the Rep. told me, and I quote "There are so many people who have so many adverse reactions that we can't possibly reimburse them all" WHAT?! I almost died because of their medication!! I am really upset that a drug company can use us as lab rats and get away with it. I have read that this has happened to many people. I have contacted a couple of Class Action Lawyers to try and get my medical costs reimbursed. I cannot believe that the drug companies get away with this.
