I started life as a fairly normal, if disobedient, child. Up to 5th grade, ADHD medication enabled me to get good grades in school. I believe my diagnosis of ADHD and the subsequent medication masked and compounded other disorders that surfaced as I grew up. HOWEVER, I am very productive and able to focus my energy into what needs to be done. Things such as paying bills, cleaning, and other day-to-day tasks that used to be impossible and done before I even think about them. I take 10mg in the morning. Usually within an hour it is peaking, and last about 4-5 I'd say. I often take another 10mg after lunch. This drug WILL affect your appetite. Specifically, it is a stimulant that elevated your blood sugar. Because of this, your body suppresses hunger naturally. There is not really anything inherently 'bad' about weight loss on this medication, however, people should be aware of it; especially in younger children. I find that there is a 'crash' to this drug. It is not a very hard depression, it is more like apathy. The good news is, the medication seems to work longer than the excitement period wears off. I really love this stuff. It does work. It should be mentioned, this is a very abused medication. It is controlled. They will also wear off after a while, if they last for a year, your dose is too high. also if it causes symptoms associated with stimulants like increased energy and what not your dose is either much too high or you don't have ADHD and SHOULD NOT be taking it. the body chemistry of a person with ADHD is different than someone who does not have it and so it affects us differently. At the moment, however, I feel OK. RE: WORKING While on XR10 or a 5mg dose of Adderall, I am much more consumed by work. Working becomes much more interesting and rewarding. Time becomes a resource that I can use very effectively; normally this is not the case. I can zoom in on work and my immediate visual environment becomes very stimulating. Adderall allows me to follow streams of thought further than I could if I were sober. However, when I am sober and read the things I wrote while on the drug, they seem much less potent in spite of the fact that when I wrote them there was a clear and present goal in mind. RE: PSYCHOLOGY Adderall feels like it unlocks certain parts of myself that are super positive.
