That controlled the depressive symptoms for a while but now it is back and worse than ever. I did some research and decided Sprintec was making my existing depression that much worse so I am in the process of changing to Yaz which will hopefully be better for me. Long story short, this birth control made my existing PMDD so so so much worse than it has ever been and I am looking forward to being off if it. I also cry at the drop of a hat it seems since being on Sprintec. And once I start, it takes FOREVER to stop crying. I had major depression and anxiety since I started this pill when I was 16 and I had no idea that it all couldve been because of this pill I was taking. It did prevent pregnancy for me, but often a lot of times it would also cause me to get sick every single night after taking it. It would cause so much pain at times & I wouldnt be able to hold down food because of how much I would be getting sick throughout the day. Also its harder to do normal things because of how anxious this birth control makes you. Your heartbeat will go super fast and you get panic attacks out of no where. I was scared to do the most normal things, I wouldnt enjoy anything a lot of times and I would get irritable. Its good to know now that I was never alone in my experience. I was on it for way too long when I shouldnt have been & Im glad I dont have to take it any more. I hope if anyone else has trouble with this pill, that they will be able to get off of it and feel better soon. If anyone has had these same issues and has gone off of sprintec could you let me know how long it took you for your mental health to go back to normal (if it did)! SPRINTEC (ETHINYL ESTRADIOL; NORGESTIMATE): This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin and an estrogen. It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. Using this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia).
