1  acne and menstrual cramps I have had extreme irritability/anxiety and did not realize this pill was contributing. I had been put on Buspar to help with anxiety the last 41/2 months. However, switched to Yaz and started feeling more myself within 1st week of pack. Not sure even need Buspar on low dosage anyways. I was angry a lot on this Sprintec and feeling depressed at times due to feeling that way. Thankfully, I am feeling much more comfortable in my skin on Yaz. Not sure if Sprintec has too much estrogen for me or what, just glad i'm feeling better and everyone around me is too. F 16 1 years

1  Just for a bc Nauseous all the time. Breasts hurt so bad, and they've grown, which isn't what I want. Anxiety and extreme anger over little things. On edge. I feel like I have a ridiculously short fuse. I am a positive, peppy person who rarely cries and this has made me a negative, nervous, angry person. I have very little energy and I don't feel like getting up. I stopped taking the pill last night after a complete meltdown over nothing. I'm so unhappy. I've never been depressed before but I've been feeling like nothing matters. I will never take this again. F 33 48 days

1  Birth control Breast pain, nipple pain This pill sucks. I've been on Aviane for years and had a scare with that so my dr put on this to have heavier periods. I'll take another scare over this stupid pill any day. My breasts and nipples hurt like I am pregnant (what I would assume it would be like.) I haven't even had my period yet on the first pack of this bc and I want off of it!!! F 30 14 days

1  PCOS and acne Initially for the first 2 weeks it gave me horrible side effects nausea, vomiting and headaches. I was planning to get off it but my doctor said it was the adjustment. I gave it another week and the symptoms subsided. Then my acne started to clear up. But the anxiety and depression took over at times it became uncontrollable crying and feeling of hopelessness. It feels awful now. I am worried if I get off the pill my acne will come back. Not to mention that I gained 15 pounds with this BC which is not helping me loose weight. I work out 5 times a week and eat healthy and I can't loose weight. Very unhappy with this BC pill. F 35 6 months

1  Prevent pregnancy ANXIETY wow, I can't even believe I'm not alone! I started with really bad anxiety about 2 years ago, pretty much when I started this birth control (go figure). I just recently stopped taking it 3 weeks ago and I feel so much better! I'm getting married in a week and I feel blessed to be done with this pill. F 26 2 years

1  cramps and excessive bleeding faster Bowel movements, stuck weight(no gain no loss), depression, unclarity, anxiety, panic attacks, mental illness, etc. I have been on this birth control for actually 3 years but have been on and off of it, I decided to faithfully take it and was on it for 7 months straight, worst idea i've ever made in my life. for the past week i have been battling panic attacks and just unclarity with the world and questioning life and i never used to be like this, i used the restroom A LOT, i don't lose or gain weight and i try my best to lose but never do, i cant sleep to save my life and i have heart palpitations when i do almost fall asleep, i wake up panicking sometimes because i think i have a mental or health issues cause my body feels limp, i get brain fog sometimes, my legs are super itchy and i have no emotion or sex drive, i was in the ER cause i thought i had health problems and they said i was perfectly healthy, life has been a shit hole since i faithfully took this pill and it happened so randomly so ladies please DO NOT TAKE THIS F 21 7 months

1  Prevent Pregnancy At the beginning, I had the generic side effects: bloating, headaches/migraines, nausea, weight change. However at month 3, I began to have horrible anxiety, panic attacks and it has even affected my sleep. I have been having depressive thoughts as well. I wouldn't recommend this pill to anyone who has preexisiting mental illnesses/disorders, as well as physical disorders F 20 5 months

1  Heavy periods Nausea, mood swings, anger, anxiety, heavier period than normal. Tried to skip my period due to pre-existing issue of heavy painful periods but have now been having a horrific period lasting longer with worse cramps than before I started this medication. F 38 29 days

3  Androgenic alopecia First month had fatigue and nausea. But also my hair loss from androgenic alopecia completely stopped on this pill!!! Then soon after I completely lost my sex drive. Also I feel tired and depressed a lot. BCPs are all bad for you honestly but I stopped taking this one last week when I had my wisdom teeth pulled and no clot ever formed *HAD SEVERE DRY SOCKET PAIN* because the hormones(endocrine disrupters) affect your gums and the way you heal. It's tolerable but not worth it for a female to be exposed to that many side effects that impact your life. 32 7 months

2  prevent pregnancy I've been on sprintec for 7 years, SEVEN YEARS, it has worked beautifully at preventing pregnancy but has been HELL for me emotionally. Bouts of depression caused by severe anxiety. Severe PMS and mood swings. At some times you feel so emotionally numb you feel robotic. Luckily I've had a therapist for my duration on sprintec and she's given me the courage to kick it. There was a time where I was sprintec free for 3 months and I felt ALIVE. Please know you are never alone in your experiences and it's okay to try something new! Nothing is worth your sanity and well being. F 25 7 years

2  Prevent pregnancy vomiting, nausea, depression, anxiety, rapid heartbeat, panic attacks, fear to do normal things, cramping, unable to eat, & me not knowing it was this evil pill all along... Wow I wish I had found these reviews and this website sooner. I had major depression and anxiety since I started this pill when I was 16 and I had no idea that it all couldve been because of this pill I was taking. It did prevent pregnancy for me, but often a lot of times it would also cause me to get sick every single night after taking it. It would cause so much pain at times & I wouldnt be able to hold down food because of how much I would be getting sick throughout the day. Also its harder to do normal things because of how anxious this birth control makes you. Your heartbeat will go super fast and you get panic attacks out of no where. I was scared to do the most normal things, I wouldnt enjoy anything a lot of times and I would get irritable. Its good to know now that I was never alone in my experience. I was on it for way too long when I shouldnt have been & Im glad I dont have to take it any more. I hope if anyone else has trouble with this pill, that they will be able to get off of it and feel better soon. Just remember that youre not the only one that has gone through this and experienced these problems, reach out to a family member or friend if you need support and dont be afraid to ask for help!!!  2  to regulate period i started taking the birth control to have my period because i have pcos and after a month or so i have been getting irritated for no reason towards my family all the time. i then started to get depressed and didnt want to leave the house. and i started doing things i would have never thought if doing and i wasnt myself or having a clear head. the doctors should have said i would possibly or get depression because i would have chosen a different birth control. i stopped taking it because i would rather not have my period and be happy then having my period and be depressed F 17 4 months

SPRINTEC  (ETHINYL ESTRADIOL; NORGESTIMATE):  This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin and an estrogen. It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. Using this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia).   (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)
