3  Colonoscopy Today is the third day of having a terrible cough, coughing up mucus, unable to sleep because laying down makes it worse. Following the procedure I had a sore throat, cough, really bad chills and a fever and laryngitis which I still have. Asked the doctor if it was the Propofol and he said no but I believe it was after doing some research on it. Never again ! I would think Doctors should know this can happen it’s pretty scary.  1  Endoscopy Initial dose: face and nose on fire, burning at injection site. Upon waking: talkative, high, felt drugged After a nap: flu like symptoms, headaches, body aches, right arm (where IV was) throbbing, tingling, sore. Out quick, and woke up talking the nurses head off, higher than a kite! Ate as soon as I left, and slept for 4 hours. Upon waking I felt awful. I've had multiple surgeries and experience with general anesthesia, but nothing like this. I couldn't leave my couch for a day. Body aches, headaches, the arm in which it was injected felt like it was being crushed, and severe nausea and anxiety. I will never take this again given I was only on it for 15 minutes! Horrible side effects later in the day. I don't advise this for anyone. F 29 1 times

1  colonoscopy headache, lethargy, sore, stiffness, taste is altered I had a routine colonoscopy, and this is the first experience with any anesthesia. It's been 4 days, I feel like I'm sick with the flu, but I'm not. Achy joints and limbs, sore, had a lot of sinus drainage and headache at first, but that's gone. I will never have Propofol again if I can help it. F 51 1 days

1  Endoscopy Extreme nausea and upset stomach, anxiety and anxiety attack, chills, extremely cold. Horrific. I was fine when I woke up, but that evening I became very nauseous with a bad upset stomach and followed by a lot of anxiety. The next day the nausea and upset stomach continued and I had a severe panic attack. That night the panic came back, I took Xanax around 8 pm but at 10:30 pm the anxiety returned. Never ever ever will I take this drug again. F 37 0 days

2  MAC Nausea and pain. Many people have a pleasant experience with Propofol for anesthesia induction or MAC (monitored anesthesia care--similar to twilight sleep) for short procedures. They have, and I quote, "A good nap." I have had it for both types of anesthesia--induction and MAC. It worked fairly well for induction because it was given slowly (I cannot use Versed, so propofol was given by itself). However, for MAC, it was pushed too quickly, and my hand and arm felt as if on fire (the resident forgot to loosen the BP cuff, so the drug was "stuck" in my lower arm--both me and the attending shouted at him to "Get the cuff off!"). I felt "hit on the head" and woke up with a terrible hangover and feeling sick (I did not receive pain meds that could explain the nausea--just the Propofol; I checked). This instance was for a chemo-port placement; the same thing happened some years back for another "quick" outpatient procedure where it was pushed fast (I guess they're on a timetable). I felt awful both times--definite nausea and difficulty waking up (and was told, "Oh, you're wrong, this NEVER causes nausea!") I can't say I'll never use it again, but I'm going to insist on better pre-treatment for nausea. F 52 1 days

1  colonoscopy It's been 8 days since my procedure & I still have unshakable migraine, back of neck pain & balance issues. My first colonoscopy went very well & I was awake & watching the procedure onscreen. This time putting me out with propoful has been hellishly long recovery period with the aforementioned difficulties. My advice is to avoid puppy mill type medical facilities & go to a medical teaching hospital. First time was at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Noo Ham'sha. The one last week at a Colonoscopy's R Us joint in San Antonio. Perhaps I'm the rare case for these side effects but reading other's similar experience I felt compelled to post mine. I'd ask first what they plan to use & if they mention propoful ask what else ya got? M 65

1  for colonoscopy procedure I was given Propofol in an iv for colonoscopy I am lucky to be alive after 11/07/2017 I awoke being held down and a tube (they said for suction) down my throat. I could not breath, my oxygen level "crashed". Next thing I knew I was being loaded into an ambulance and taken to a hospital ER. The doctor there called my condition life threatening. I was admitted for 2 days. I was given breathing treatments and steroids plus on oxygen. (don't know what else) My throat hurt like I had swallowed broken glass. For a routine colonoscopy this is costing about $20,000. I have oxygen here at home and still need to use it occasionally. One doctor said I had aspiration pneumonia. This was the worse experience I have ever had. I will NEVER have Propofol again and should have been told the side effects, instead she kept telling me I would do fine and would not have any issues.  5  Colonoscopy Became unconscious quickly. Woke up after procedure with no difficulty. I felt like I had the best nap in my life. I loved it. I'm having some fatigue and weird dreams 2 days after procedure, but it's not alarming. F 53 0 days

1  For a colonoscopy Second time given propofol for a colonoscopy. Did NOT like the feelings I had upon waking from the drug the first time I received it and asked for something else the second time around but was told I had no options. Even though I explained my negative experience with the drug the person scheduling the test went on to tell me how great it was. So much for patient satisfaction. Specifically my experience, both times, were feelings of dread upon waking accompanied by buckets of tears. These feelings remained with me for the rest of the day and deepened into a horrible anxiety and depression that is going on two weeks now. I have had a day or two when I've thought I was finally over it only to wake up the next day in a state of desperation and despair. Next time I will refuse to schedule any procedure that offers this drug as the only choice. Absolutely hate it! F 60 0 days

1  Colonoscopy For a 20 minute procedure I came out having to blow my nose and coughing bad. I know the prep for the colonoscopy was bad but I felt by far worse the next day!!! Cold , chills, horrible night sweats. My oxygen went down in surgery so they had to suction. I have asthma so that really concerned me. WILL not use that again!!!! F 58 1 days
